WILLIAM LEGRO BENNETT enlisted in the army (union) I think, as LEGRO BENNETT. perhaps he used that name to distinguish himself from tons of people by the name of William.
I'm quite sure WM was the son of LEGRO BENNETT. he had two wifes. #1 was MARY E. KINDLE. she died and he married
MARY JANE CHAPPELL. They had 8 children. One of those was named LEGRO CALDWELL BENNETT.another was my grandmother : DORA ANN BENNETT. That is why it is so confusing, so many legro's. I need to look further to find the first LEGRO IN Posey Co. In. He is in my papers, but I haven't had time yet to find him. Anyway, this is a start, no ?
