Joseph was born May 10th 1805 to Joseph Sr. and a "Lady of title." (We still don't know her name. ) Joseph sr. was born in England in abt. 1767.
In 1832 Joseph Jr. Married Elizabeth Collins . Her family was a distinguished one belonging to The Church Of England. However the marraige record of Joseph and Elizabeth is not found there. They were on honeymoon to New York, and settled originally in Detroit michigan where there first child Charles Joseph Bennett was born (1834). Later they (Joseph and Elizabeth Collins) went to Canada and actually settled a town named after their homeland which still exists today, Maidstone Cross Ontario Canada. The remainder of their 9 children were born there. Joseph was a coffin maker and a carpenter and joiner, and Elizabeth cared for the 9 children. To this day. descendents in the mortuary business still exist in Toledo Ohio, by the name of Bennett Mortuary.
I am interested in the English relatives still in Maidstone. Joseph Sr. had 2 other children besides Joseph Jr. We can not find any info on them at all. We have even hired geneologists in England to find them, to no avail. Joseph Sr was even in the British Army and served through several wars. He recieved the coat of arms which his decendants in England hold with pride to this day. Any info would be greatly appreciated, sincerely, Kathy
