Hi Greg,
I have only just started on this line but I think I am right in saying that Thomas Bennett (c1812) was the son of Randle Bennett (1775) and Mary Gaskell, my GGGG Grandparents.
They started out life in Derbyshire and Cheshire respectively. My GGG Grandparents Sarah Bennett (1799) and Edward Davies (1802) moved about a bit 1851 - Newton-in-Makerfield (now renamed Newton-le-Willows) most probably because Robert Louis Stephenson had started to build his steam engines and the Vulcan Foundry was a big employer in the town. The family lived in one of the factory tied houses there. 1861 - they were living in Warrington. 1871 - they were living in Widnes. At this point I do not know the reason for the moves which I feel was unusual. Most people working at the Vulcan Foundry had a job for life.
My GG Grandmother Mary Bennett (1828) married William Maines and they lived in the town until they died.
I have a lot of information on the MAINES line if that is of use to you and you would like to share information.
In the meantime if there is anything I can find out for you please ask. I intend to visit the places they lived to cover their steps.
Regards
Pat
