I am STILL searching for any info for Joseph Bennett Sr. born 1767 in Maidstone Kent England. He married a Lady of Title, and had 3 children. The eldest was a son by the name of Joseph Jr. He was born in 1805 in Maidstone and when he was just 5, his mother died. (1810). Joseph Jr Married Elizabeth Collins in 1832. They came to the USA, Ny, then Detroit Mi., then settled a town by the name of Maidstone Cross in Ontario Canada.
My question is this?:
Who was the lady of title.?
If she had such a title, one would think SOMEONE would know it! There would be records avail. showing it.
Where is Joseph Sr? Where did he die, when did he die? There has to be census records, or land records on him somewhere in England.
There are many who are researching this line, yet all of our information stops here.
There has also been a talk if you will, that there is a possible jewish connection to our Bennett line, either form Bennett themselves or from this mysterious Lady Of Title.
In my honest opinion, back then, people would marry into established families to gain access to land ownership and wealth. I think it is entirely possible for our Lady of title to have received her title this way. I suspect her father was wealthy, possibly of some kind of nobility, and her mother was proably of jewish decent. This child would have been born with a title from this union.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look form here? Does anyone have any other info on this line with clues either for or against this possibility? I am bound and determined to locate this line in England. I have yet to hear or see that anyone has located them there.
Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Kathy JOhnson
