Emma Bennett

I'm looking for information on an Emma Bennett who possibly lived in KS in the 1920's. She gave up a son for adoption when he was about 2 years old (and she was about 20 years old) to a place called Life Line Orphan Home in Kansas City KS. His name on his birth cert. is Robert Eugene Bennett. The father is listed as a J.F. Saunders of Tulsa OK. I even have her home address at the time of the birth, but it hasn't gotten me anywhere....

The place listed on the birth certificate is Hope Cottage in Lansing KS.

Any information at all would be GREATLY appreciated.

Saw this thread and thought it might be linked to mine, I have a Samual Bennett born in Minsterley, Shropshire, in 1822- 1824. Samual was the son of George Bennett who I believe was born about 1799. Have not been able to find George but this could be your George Bennett born in 1805 to Joeseph Samual Bennett.

I've got an Eginton (or Egington) ancestor from England who married Edward Bennett and emigrated to the Colonies (now the USA) in the 1640s. Her name was either Alice or Elizabeth Alice. When I research on line I find these names in Sedgeley, Staffordshire and also in Weymouth, Dorset. It looks like the Staffordshire Bennett/Eginton/Egington emigrated to Pennsylvania while mine emigrated to Massachusetts/Rhode Island. Do you have any more information about her or her ancestors?

Looking for information on Thomas George Bennett, born October 1917 and died in June 1986 in California. Wife's name was Rita Alma Bennett, born June 1917 and died May 2003. Thomas served in the military and I believe he served during WWI. He is buried at Riverside National Cemetery with Rita.

I don't know if your Reuben is related or not. I do have a Reuben Bennett who was the son of Jordan Bennett and Marie Richardson but they lived in Minnesota. Jordan was born in Minnesota so I believe Reuben was also and this is about two generations after your Reuben. We found ours in Madison Township, Scioto County, OH and in Scioto Twp.,Jackson County, OH. But I have not seen any other Reubens in the family. That line seems very well documented online. The father of our Jordan Bennett was George Washington Bennett. There were two George Washington Bennetts. One came to Ohio to live with his daughter when he was much older and I think he was from Virginia. But our George Washington went by Washington Bennett in Scioto County but George Washington Bennett in Jackson County. It may be because there was already another George Washington in the family. Our George's father was John Bennett son of Charles and Martha (Collins) Bennett. The trees on Ancestry have the George's mixed up because they didn't know about the Minnesota branch. We tracked him back to Ohio and into that family. But Charles and Martha had one more child than what is listed in the trees. We think that son stayed in Virginia and may have been the other George or the father of the other George. You might try tracking his wife as that might be a clue as to what county he came from or region of Ohio. Bennett is one of the most common names in America so very hard to research without the locations. If you can find a marriage licence, that might give you a clue as to where he came from.

I have William Bennett and Lois Flint in my family file, called The Carr-Bennett Heritage on-line at Ancestry.com.
William is not a known direct ancestor of mine, but we may find a connection at some point. In my file, he is descended from John Bennett, b. 1632, of Charlestown, MA. I was born in Maine, and I have proven (by Y-DNA) descent from Henry Bennett, b. 1629, of Ipswich, MA.

I have a Reuben Bennett born 1824 Ohio died 1888. But no information about parents, etc. My line is his son Harmon b. 1852 Indiana, Fred S. b. 1878 Indiana, Nora Mae b. 1918.

I wonder if these two lines aren't related somehow, being both in Ohio and not well documented. I would love to know anything you've found.

Thanks for the additional information. It's good to know for sure which Ebenezer is the right one in the 1800 census. The Ebenezer in Wardsboro is almost certainly the son of Samuel, so that narrows things down a bit.

In the biography of his grandson Lyman Wakefield, from the Portrait and Biographical Album of Arizona (Chapman Bros 1901), it says, "The earlier members of the family lived in Connecticut, and the paternal grandfather, Eben, was born at Windham. He married Selinda BENNETT, a native of Connecticut, and subsequently settled in Franklin county, NY, where he eventually died."

Ebenezer, son of Simeon and Mary (Deline), was born in Killingly, Windham Co, CT in 1760. I'm not completely ready to say that Ebenezer Green Wakefield married Salinda Bennett, but it is looking pretty good.

Also, according to the History of Hartford VT (Tucker 1889), Jonathan Bennett died in 1804 at the age of 55.

I live near Wigan, Peter lives in Leeds, John lives near Ormskirk and Michael lives in Greasby on the Wirral. My dad (John) died when he was 67, he had chronic lung problems. He was the most lovely man and I still miss him so much (very much a daddy's girl). My mum (Irene)died 10 years ago, she was 84 and very much missed.

Elizabeth Ann Bennett, 65, of 490 Shewood Place, Stratford, Conn., died Wednesday at St. Vincent Medical center, Bridgeport, Conn.
Born in Hazleton, Nov. 25, 1934, she was the daughter of Florence R. (Hiloski) Card, Stratford, Conn., and the late Charles R. Card, who died in 1993.
She was a member of St. James R.C. Church, Stratford, where she served as a Eucharistic minister.
Mrs. Bennett was a Marian Servant for the Community of Divine Providence House of Prayer, Clearwater, Fla.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her father, was her husband, Frank Anthony Bennett.
Surviving in addition, to her mother, are the following children, Frank Bennett, Monroe, Conn.; Matthew and Michael J. Bennett, both of Williamsburg, Va.; Elizabeth Bennett, Easton, Conn.; Maria Boemmels, Stratford, Conn.; Rose Gulish, Torrington, Conn.; 10 grandchildren, and a brother, Charles J. Card, Stratford, Conn.
The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
Friends may call Monday at the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., 542 N. Wyoming St., from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
The family requests that memorial donations may be made to St. James R.C. Church Renovation Fund, 2110 Main St., Stratford, Conn., 06615.

Looking for information on Martha Elliott who married Ishmael Bennett's ("Ishmael Sr.)in RI in 1760. She was his first wife. Children were Rufux, Martha, Ishmael & one other. She died in 1774 in RI.

These dates and the place of death could be off.

I have earlier Bennett connections from Maine and Massachusetts of the same lines that you listed below.
From what I can tell John A. Bennett was married to Mildred H something from either West Virginia or Virginia.

John A was born in Mass.

John and Mildred had William Webster, John H, Mildred and Ethel.

I have more information on the Bennett line I'll be happy to share what I have to see if we can make the connections.

Seeking William Bennett and Lois (Flint) descendants Bridgton Maine

Seeking descendants of William Bennett and Lois Flint of Bridgton Maine, early 1800s.

Lois Flint was the daughter of James Flint of Reading, Mass.. James was one of the early settlers in Bridgton Maine. The Bennetts were in Bridgton Maine (then Mass as early as 1794) from New Hampshire (perhaps).

I have explored many lines of both William and Lois and have made connections with many cousins. Several of Lois's and William's children went to Boston, in the mid 1800s and then there are others that migrated to Nashville, Memphis area, Illinois, Florida, and further out east - there is one branch of married in families that I know of that migrated to Salt Lake City Utah.

I have a lot of information from the 1800's through present day and am looking to collaborate on the earlier ties - I think I have the England connection - additionally, I have a wild hair to try to work up a descendant family reunion in 2014. Looking for family.

As confirmed by his Revolutionary War file, Ebenezer Wakefield of Londonderry, Windham Co., Vermont in 1800 is the son of Thomas and Dorcas (Pratt) Wakefield of Amherst, NH. Ebenezer was born at Reading, Mass. Nov. 15, 1753.

CONESVILLE, Iowa -- Harrison E. Bennett, 81, of Conesville, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Services will be at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Burial will be at the Conesville Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Conesville Fire Department and the Conesville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bennett was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Lovilia, the son of Walter and Carrie Amber Bennett. He married Frances Ramer on Sept. 3,1938, in Muscatine.

He worked 26 years for the Bettendorf School District as the superintendent of buildings and grounds, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Conesville United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and feeding the birds.

Survivors include his wife, Frances, of Conesville; his son, James Bennett and his wife, Joanne, of Davenport; and his daughter, Norma Jean McCormac and her husband, Dick, of Columbus Junction; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Jessie Wehmeyer, of Lone Tree.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Donald, Elbert, Gordon, Glenn, and Robert; and a sister, Ruby.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Rosetta Maxine Bennett, 76, formerly of Columbus Junction, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Manor Care Center in Waterloo after a long illness.

Services will be at Cedar Hills Community Reformed Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Kent Landhuis will officiate. Burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Indian Creek Cemetery in Columbus Junction.

Visitation will be at The Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids and one hour before services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer Foundation.

Mrs. Bennett born Jan. 6, 1925, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Scott and Maude George Blakenhorn. She married Clifford Bennett on June 11, 1950.

She was a school teacher for more than 25 years, retiring in 1977, after 16 years with Louisa-Muscatine High School.

She was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, the Iowa Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Louisa County Genealogical Society, and the Farm Bureau Women.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford; two daughters, Dr. Debra McDowell and her husband, Robert, of Springfield, Mo. and Lori Tonsfeldt and her husband, Tony, of Cedar Rapids; a son, Dr. Thomas Bennett and his wife, Melodee, of Billings, Mont.; a brother, Max Blankenhorn and his wife, Frances, of Prescott, Ariz.; a sister, Mary Darlene Burgraff of Des Moines; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Hiller.

WILTON, Iowa - Robert Dale Bennett, died March 31, 2008, at his home in Wilton.

Funeral Service will be at the Randolph Funeral Home, Allerton, Iowa. The Rev. Tom Zeleny and LeRoy Perkins will officiate the service.

Mr. Bennett was born September 1, 1925, near Allerton. He married Norma Mace on March 13, 1947, in Allerton.

He joined the Methodist Church as a young boy and though his membership moved as he lived in other localities, his loyalty remained with the Allerton church.

He worked in a factory, in construction, farmed and spent his last working years with Clyde Black and Son Hybrid Seed Farms near Ames, Iowa.

In retirement he enjoyed travel, visiting and spending time with his children and their families.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Bennett of Wilton; a son, Frank Bennett and wife, Linda, of Grundy Center; a daughter, Barbara Schmoll and husband, Jack, of Wilton; a son, Tom Bennett and wife, JoEllyn, of Huxley; seven grandchildren, Turner Bennett and wife, Belynda, of Shakopee, Minnesota, Amy Bennett of Grundy Center, Mike Bennett of Ankeny, Chad Bennett and wife, Ashly of Ithaca, New York, Kristy Bennett of Seattle, Washington, Luke Bennett and wife, Sally, of Davenport and Michelle Davis and husband, Art, of Boone; nine great-grandchildren, Venessa Ash, Elizabeth Ash, Mary Grace Ash, Lydia Bennett, Jacob Bennett, Kaleb Bennett, Brandi Botkin, Justus Davis and Jada Wierck; a sister-in-law, Floriene Mace, as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends.

JONESBORO, Ark. -- Harrison Thomas Bennett Jr., 72, Jonesboro, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at his residence.

The Rev. Lewis Gentry officiated the services. Casket bearers were Danny Turner, Charles Witt, Tim Witt, Warren Gallion, Bob Ivy, Raymond Elder and John Broadway. Burial was at Philadelphia Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home, Jonesboro, was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bennett was born in Newport.

He was a graduate of Newport High School and attended the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and played on the Razorback football team for one year. After his freshman year, he transferred to Ouachita Baptist University, where he lettered in football for three years.

A U.S. Army veteran, he moved to Jonesboro in 1976, was a retired farmer and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dovie Bennett; a son, Harrison Thomas Bennett III of Jonesboro; two daughters, Cynthia Bennett Hendrix and Judith Bennett, both of Jonesboro; three brothers, Benny Bennett of Phoenix, Lonnie Bennett of Little Rock and Billy Bennett of Springdale; and a sister, Tommie Walker of Newport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison Thomas Sr. and Ima Miller Bennett.

I have Bennetts from Pownal (ie Francis Bennett 1745 - 1829)and Lyman is a middle name for at least one of them.

Thanks. I see that you descend from Kirksey Alvin Bennett. I am interested in knowing whether you have any photos of Kirksey's father William Edward Bennett and his father Joseph Bennett. I have none myself and have no idea what the Bennett's look like.

When daughter was an infant and son was 8 put both children up for adoption. Sons adopted name Ron Niles, Daughter's adopted name Yvonne Marie Page. Looking for any family history and or health history.

Hi

My Mercy was born in Pownal Vt. 1807. She had Brothers,and their names were Lyman, Nathan, and William. I dont recall any Francis being in my genealogy,but, he could have been a Brother to William Bennett senior I dont have any information on him at all.
