Hi

I am trying to prove that Clara or Clarissa or Clarice is the daughter of Sebastine and Theotiste Benoit. I have had no luck. Clara was born in 1844 and married James Y Jennex or Gennex. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking for years and nothing.

My Grandfather is William Wells a ggrandson of Clara

I heard through the grape vine that you are the one to ask.I am trying to prove my native ancestory. I have Clarissa Benoit as a GGGGrandmother. I was told by a member of Qalipu that I need to connect Clarissa to her mother and father Theotiste and Sebastian Benoit. I can't find any proof that these were her parents. Clarissa married James Y. jennex and had a daughter named Catherine Jennex or Gennex in turn Catherine Gennex married Alexander Wells and had a son named Alexander Wells who married Mary Jane Picco whom had a son named William Wells who married Pearl White whom had a daughter named Bessie Wells. Bessie is my mother.

Do you have any info or know where I could look to connect Clarissa to her parents?

Arthur's Family: wife; Odinas or Odina, daughters; Odinas, Atna or Aetna, sons; Hector, Archille, Eston or Ester Joseph, and Leo H. Grandchildren: Kenneth George (married Durocher), Donald, Marjorie Atna (Bourgeoise), and Anita Elinor (Wilson) Tootill were raised by them after thier mother died. (I'm assuming she died.) Thier father was Walter Tootill. I would love any info at all, but mainly I am trying to confirm that the daughter Odina(s) was thier mother as I find no record of her after 1919, and the only other daughter, Atna, married a Dupuis and lived for many years after that. By default I want to assume that Odinas is the mother of the Tootill children.

To help people find this message, here are the mispellings of Benoit/Tootill surnames that I have encountered with this particular family: Trotill, Benort, Tootell, Tuttle

I am searching for any information regarding Jean Petit Benoit originally from Pouligny, Franche-Comte, France, in the late 1700s. He was married to Marianne Jeannin originally from Montagny, Vaud, Switzerland, in the late 1700s. These are my GGG Grandparents. They lived in Yverdon, Switzerland in 1818 and prior for an unknown period.

Jean and Marianne had at least one son, Jean Petit Benoit, born about 1802 who married Emelie Borgardus of Baden, Germany. They emigrated with their children to Detroit, Michigan, via Le Havre, France, and New York City, NY, in 1852. The family has remained generally in the Detroit area since.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, it's been 9 years since this post was made, but here goes: I too am looking for Tharsile Baril information. What I know so far is she is listed as having died in 1845 on many family trees - FALSE.

I have the baptism & marriage records of 3 of her known children with Francois Savary - Claire was born in 1842, Francois in 1849, and Pierre in 1852. I do know she passed before 1861, as the census shows her husband Francois Savary is living with his 2 sons next door to or with daughter Claire and her husband's family, and Francois is listed as a widow.

I am just beginning my search for her parentage and any records of her. On her marriage record to Francois Savary her parents are listed as Augustin Barry and Therese Gauthier.

It was "Great" to read your message, and for some reason I never received it or was notified that there was a message on this site. I just thought I would go back and look at the Genealogy site today and reread queries I had left. Good thing, as I found yours.
I knew that Charles (or Charlie as my Dad referred to him) had married Marcelle Benoit in Montreal, on Feb. 12, 1923.
I actually saw two photo's of Charles and Marcelle that was taken back in the 60's I believe.
My siblings had never met any of our Leclerc relatives til a few years ago. I have researched our Leclerc Genealogy for years and came across a message left from the daughter of Pierre Leclerc (or Pete as my Dad called him)Pete was born Jan 29, 1900, and is the brother to Charles, as well as my Dad, Ed Leclerc.(who died in 1970)
My Grandparents were Joseph Leclerc & Elise Babin, yes there were alot of children born to them. How ironic that there are more twins in your family, as Elise Babin had twins, Germaine & Eugene Leclerc, as well as Elise had a twin sister Ida Babin.
I am in touch with Margaret Leclerc Framboise, Pete Leclerc's daughter, as well as her brother Bob Leclerc,
both siblings live in Canada.(all thanks to emails and the Genealogy site, and now phone calls) Bob Leclerc provided me with pictures of his Dad and his siblings, my cousins. My siblings and I met Bob Leclerc and his wife a couple of years ago, they came to B.C. to visit and they stayed with us, what lovely people they are.
Its wonderful to know something about Charles and Marcelle and the family. I have alot on the Leclerc side, but not the Benoit side, finally found out when and where Joseph Leclerc and Elise Babin died and where they are buried. I have as well a picture of Elise's twin sister, and her husband, and also a picture of Elise's parents, Alexandre Babin & Josephine Cyr who both lived to a good age.
It would be nice to know more about the new generation, and perhaps see pictures, and we could share information.
I can now go back to the 1600's on the Leclerc & Babin side of the family, took me many years, but found out an incredible amount of info.

I am looking for any information pertaining to Jean Benoit or his family or ancestors. He immigrated from France in 1852. The port of departure was Le Havre, France and the port of entry was New York City, New York. They arrived in the U.S. aboard the ship Wm Tell on 22 Jun 1852. His wife's name was Emilie and he had children, Emil, Charles, Caroline, John, and Camille. According to the 1860 - 1930 Census, the family lived in Detroit, Michigan at several addresses. Sons John, Charles, and Emil owned and operated a Machinist business in Detroit from around 1870 until son john's death in 1908. I have a great deal of information on my family, but I am looking specifically for clues to help me research further in Alsace, France as well as to identify other lines of cousins in the U.S. both past and present.

I have Florence's marriage license and she says her mother was Ida Benoit and father Alfred Bilodeau.

Maybe she didnt know for sure since she was living w grandparents at one time.

Maybe Ida Ada was short for Adeliade or something.

I feel like I have been looking for this woman FOREVER. I would honestly think that she did not exist however according to my grandmother's birth certificate, she did.

My grandmother, Florence Bilodeau, was born Aug. 3, 1901 in Massachusetts. Mother listed as Ida Benoit, and father is not mentioned.

(I have no idea why seeing Florence states her father as Alfred Bilodeau in 1921 when she marries)

It says residence is Tewksbury MA and thats pretty much it.

I DO NOT know if Benoit was her maiden name or her married name, all I know is that she gave birth to my grandmother in 1901 and for some reason Florence shows up living with the Bilodeau family in Lowell (listed as granddaughter) in 1910 census.

Evidently she has been out of the picture a long, long time.

I did see in a really old article that a posting was put in by the Red Cross. They were looking for an Ida Benoit on behalf of her brother. Could be the same one. That Red Cross is no longer around.

Does ANYONE out there have an Ida Benoit from Massachusetts in their tree?? I dont know the circumstances of my grandmothers birth but for whatever reason she was not raised by Ida.

Any thoughts are appreciated. :)

Several years ago I was given information through a family member that our Great Grandfather was Alcide Benoit (1852) who married Marie Trahan. Their daughter Modeste Benoit married R.P. Stakes in 1878.

I just received her marriage license and her death certificate.

The marriage license for Richard P. Stakes and Modeste Benoit has Placide Benoit(his mark) as a witness which would seem to follow the information in her death certificate.

On the death certificate the informant was her son Edward Stakes who gave her fathers name as Placide Benoit and mother unknown.

I am not close to a library that has Father Heberts books and was wondering if someone might have access to the books or CD's that would be willing to look up this information for me.

What I would like to know is...Who was the mother of Modeste Benoit b. 27 Oct 1847 near Morse, LA. and if there is any information on the marriage of her parents.

Any help is appreciated.

Charles and Marcelle were my ex-husband's grandparents, whom I had the pleasure of getting to know in the early 80's before they passed away. They were living in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and had been there many years, with their two sons, Claude Anselm and Maurice. Claude married Charlotte Lorraine Cole and had Dennis Richard (my ex) and twins Kenneth and Peter.

According to my records supplied by Charles and Marcelle, Charles was born Sept. 11, 1901 and Marcelle Henriette Benoit was born April 7, 1902. They were married February 12, 1923. Charles said there were 14 brothers and sisters and that his parents were Joseph and Elize Babin.

Marcelle was the oldest with 11 younger brothers. Her parents were Francois Benoit and Albine Roy.

I can supply dates for the newer generations, but know very little going backwards. Any info you can share about the Leclerc and Benoit lines will be greatly appreciated!

There is a birth record for Florence in Lowell, but it is not available to view. Don't know which birth record you have though so posted above.

I will check Lowell for a birth record of ADA Bilodeau and see if anything mathes.

I am looking for information on my GG Grandfather Charles Gustave Benoit. He was born in Neuchatel, Switzerland - date unknown and emigrated to Australia. He was married in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia 1858 and died in 1887 in Springvale, Melbourne. He had 6 children and was married to Maria (Burns). One son, Charles Simeon Benoit I believe moved to Tasmania. I am decended from another son - William Henry Benoit and his son was my Grandfather Alfred Leslie Benoit. Any help would be fantastic. There are not a lot of Benoit's in Australia.

Her father and mother were Felix and Hermeline Benoit and came from Crysler,Ontario originally and eventually settled in Charlotte,VT. I'm not sure where my GGF Felix fits in to the tree and who he descended from. I do know there seems to be quite a bit of intermarriage with Benoits, Charlebois' and Aubes.
