BENSON, Gladys Lorene & BENSON, Elmer H. "Ben" passed away February 11, 1996 in South Gate, California. Gladys was born in Artesian, South Dakota September 28, 1921. A community leader, she was active in the PTA, American Field Service, Camp Fire Girls, Demolay, having served in various offices over the years. Professionally, she was a member of the Credit Women's Association. She was an avid bowler for 30 years, serving as President of her league on several occasions. Elmer H. "Ben" was born in. Barrington. Illinois on July 8, 1916. He was the Owner/Operator of E. H. Benson Construction Company, General Contractor which operated throughout me Southern California area for more than 10 years. During World War II he served. with the Seabees, 76th Construction BattalÂ¬ion, in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Huntington Park Elks Lodge for 53 years. They are survived by their daughters, Micki S. Downey (Randy) and Linda Bouffard (Bill); son, Thomas Vardon (Connie); granddaughters, Briana Downey and Melissa Bouffard; grandsons, Parker Downey and William Bouffard, III (Erica); great-grandsons, Nicholas and William Bouffard, IV, Elmer's sister, Gladys Kodak and her sons, Bob and Jim Kodak; along with many other relatives.
Visitation for both, will be held at Mortuary Stateroom Friday, today February 16, 1996 5pm to 8:30pm and on Saturday, February 17th from 8am to 1pm (Gate 1).
Services will be held at Memorial Chapel Saturday, February 17, 1996 at 3pm (Gate 1). Interment following in Lilac Lawn, Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 S. Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California. Rose Hills Mortuary Directing.
