Charles Paul Bentley, the son of Frank E. and Martha Anna Paulina Schwarz Bentley was born on the farm his parent homesteaded six miles west of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He attended rural Boone County School District #85 and graduated from Primrose High School in 1932.
On May 18, 1941 Paul was united in marriage to Pearl L. Furby at the First Presbyterian Church in Primrose, Nebraska. They farmed in the Primrose and Albion communities. In addition to being a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Albion, Paul served as head usher and several boards of the Church over the years. He was a 60 year Master Mason, Worthy Patron and several offices of the Rose Chapter #102 of the Order of Eastern Star, and served as an elected board member of the A.S.C. office in Albion.
Pearl died in 1990. Paul moved into Harmony Homes in 2001. In June of 2005 he entered the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Home in Albion. It was there where he died on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the age of 92.
Surviving is one son Dean and wife Mavis of Albion, NE; one daughter Lynne Baller & husband Tim of Sioux City, Ia; five grandchildren: Ken Bentley & wife Laci, Stacy Glaser & husband Kenny, Tori Bentley, Ryan Baller & wife Gretchen, Daren Ballen; nine great grandchildren, one sister-in-law June Bentley of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pearl, and one brother Dan.
Funeral Services will be at10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Albion with Rev. Kathy Rice officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
