Rick - My name is Bettina Stein, daughter of Bettina Thomason, who originally posted the message from 6/25/08. We work together on our family geneology. Mom is not that good with computers, so we didn't get your message you posted on 8/09/08 till now. So I'm helping her reply to your message. We have attached the photos of Alexander Emslie and Jean (Benzie) Emslie which is circa 1900. Also attached is a photo of Jean (Benzie) Emslie with her granddaughter, which is my great-grandmother Alice Ela Beatrice Stuart-Murray. This was taken circa 1891, as Alice was born Aug 8,1890. Alice's mother was Elizabeth Milne Emslie, born Dec, 1849 in Oyne and died Apr 19, 1896 in Aberdeen. She married Norman Stuart-Murray Jul 10, 1875. He was born in 1839 on the Isle of Eigg. We do have some information for Alexander Emslie's parents. Alexander's father is Peter Emslie, born July 5, 1775 in Aberdeen. Peter married Agnes Copland Feb 2, 1815. Peter was an Army Pensioner. As for Jean Benzie, we show her parents to be Alexander Benzie and Jane Milne. Alexander Benzie born Nov 1, 1802 in Oyne; married Jane in 1821. Jane Milne was born in 1805 in Oyne. We do show that Alexander Benzie's father is William Benzie and we have no information on his mother. We'll have to dig further in our records to see if we have any additional information. In the mean time, if you have any additional information, please let us know. Mom's (Bettina Thomason) email address is bobbettina@comcast.net. Hope this helps!

I am also researching the Benzie family from Insch, Oyne and Premnay. George BENZIE, b. 16-Jun-1804, Oyne. Father was William. George married Jean HORN, 03-Jun-1832, Oyne. All their children born at Premnay. Does any of this mean anything to anyone.

Mick.

Hello cousins =D well at least I think you are? my name is Kevin Allan Benzie im a private of 7 Scots, Royal Regiment of Scotland. I'm 18 years old and have wanted to research my family tree for a number of years now. I have very little information to offer at the moment. I live in Aberdeenshire in a village called Insch, a few miles from a village called Oyne. My grandfather Leslie Benzie lived in Insch all his life I think? but have no knowledge of his father, i believe we may be linked to Oyne and Bennachie. Oyne is at the back o' Bennachie which is a large hill or mountain, some say its the heart of Aberdeenshire. I try to search the origin of Benzie and all I seem to get is "Aberdeenshire". this probably is'nt much help to any1, just letting you know that if I find information I will post. thank you for reading ?cousins? ;)

Hi! I am researching the Benzies. My gggrandmother was a Jean Benzie, born in Oyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 25 May 1824. She married Alexander Emslie in 1848. She died in Aberdeen in Mar 1904. Her parents were Alexander Benzie born in Oyne Nov 1802 and Jane Milne born in 1895 in Oyne. I don't know of any siblings. I have an old picture of Jean and Alexander, must have been taken 1880/1890 as they are old. My grandparents were born in Aberdeen and then came to the USA in 1920. Do you have any literature on the Benzies and where/who they all are? Thank you in advance, I would gladly pay you for reproductions/information.
Jean Benzie/Elizabeth Emslie/Alice Stuart-Murray/Betty Campbell/Bettina Miller Thomason.
