Beckett/Bequette name change

My great-grandfather Henry Beckett (14 Feb 1890) has Prairie du Rocher on his WW1 and WWII draft cards as his place of birth. The family story goes that he was adopted and his name was Americanized from Bequette to Beckett at that time, but I can't find any records of his parents, name change or other info. His draft card says he is a natural born citizen so I assume the birth location is correct. Any help tying my family into the Beckett/Bequette line and getting me past my great-grandparents in my research would be great.

I was looking at my tree on ancestry.com and noticed that I don't have the ancestors of Marie Jansen. Louis Augustine Bequette's brother Ambrose Bequette was married to Marie Therese Levry and one of their sons Francis James Bequette is the one that married Katie Pannell.

The Blanford and Montgomery families settled in southern Maryland with other Catholic families well before the American Revolution. They left Maryland in the late 1700's and early 1800's and migrated to Kentucky. Felix Blanford was born in Daviess County Kentucky in 1816. He married Mary Ellen Montgomery in 1839. He had several children. He left Kentucky and settled in Randolph County Illinois around 1846. One of his sons was John Walter Blanford born in Ruma Illinois in 1847. John's youngest child was George Louis Blanford born in 1897 (he made himself 3 years older to join the Army.) My grandmother was Julianna Blanford Pelate, an older sister of George. I have that George was married twice,(Gertrude Westcott and Myrtle Lewis, but who was Sonny's mother? I would like to add Sonny to my ancestry.com tree. I see the Social Security death index lists Sonny as Ovid F. Blanford 17 Apr 1937 - 8 Dec 2005. Thanks, Margaret Cantwell, Riverside, California.
Ryan,
Your grandpa was an amazing man. Your dad, uncle, aunts, my brothers and I(your dad's 1st cousins) were blessed to have him as long as we did. Although I know alot of things about our family, there are many questions we may never answer. Uncle Sonny and I talked a few times before he left us and although I know he wanted to tell me more, his mother(our grandma Myrtle)had a lot of secrets of her own. I hope to one day find the answers, but I also understand that some things are better left in the past. I can tell you that in my heart with everything I do know, that George was Sonny's father, although this is not what we had been told.

I'm trying to find out more about my great grandfather.

My grandpa didn't meet his dad until he was about 18,
his father was a river boat captain and was dark skinned.

My grandpa died when I was an infant and didn't know much
about his lineage to tell his kids. He left my dad a letter
talking about meeting his dad.

My grandpa's name is William Charles Bequette, he fought in the korean war so I assume he was born between 1928 and 1932. He died around 1989 or 1990. He has a brother named Melvin I believe.

He was the chief of police for crestwood missouri and later worked for Maplewood as a detective. But I've looked and looked and can't find anything about him on the internet.

I forgot I posted this. It has been awhile since. If you are still friends with Willie, yes I would love to talk to him. I was adopted and my birth parents names were in the adoption papers. Tommia Bequette was my birth father. So I believe that makes Willie my brother. Please pass this information on to him. Thank you.

John Walter Blanford was definitely the son of Felix Blanford and Mary Ellen Montgomery. In 1900 census Felix (age 84)lived with John's brother Valentine and his family. In 1880 Census Felix and Mary Ellen (both 64), Valentine and Mary and family, and John and Margaret and family are all on the same page. It is also pretty certain that Felix was the son of Francis H.(maybe X for Xavier) Blanford and Catherine M. Wathen. My grandmother was Julianna Blanford (daughter of John Walter Blanford)

I don't think that Felix was John's Father. Does anyone have any infomation that they are willing to share. I am in contact with only one person that has any information on the Blanfords and they say that Felix is the father.

Email is april_kobel@yahoo.com

Bequette - Pannell

Trying to find information on the family of Katie I. Pannell that married Francis James Bequette in Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri in 1892. I believe her mother was Anna R (maiden name unknown) born 1853 in Missouri. Katie had a brother named Gus Harvey Pannell and a sister Anna R. Pannell. Francis ( a photograher) and Katie lived in Bloomfield, Stoddard County, Missouri in 1900 and in St. Francois, St. Francois County, Missouri in 1910 census, but by 1930 they lived in San Diego, CA. I cannot find Francis and Katie and their children in the 1920 census. I think Katie's mother Anna R. remarried after the 1900 census to Samuel R. Elliott. (There is a possible connection to Pueblo, Colorado also.) I tried various spellings of the Pannell name, but had no luck. My email is dfcmrc@aol.com if you have any information for me.

Hi
Was wondering if you have these names in your Bequette line: This is from xerox copy of Marriage Records Ste Gen 1759-1839.
"Helene Portorique minor dau of Antoine Delrine(?) and Elizabeth married 12 May to Pierre Jaques Bequet son of Pierre & Marie Jane (Janis)."
I believe the father of Helene to actually be Antoine Paul Portorique sometimes called Portorico. Not sure of the other names-wrote it just as I found it on a xeorx list.
I do know that they could have gone between Prairie du Rocher Il and also Ste Gen. MO.
Any information you have will be greatly appreciated.
Also do you have any Bowen/Bower(s) or Labbe's in your line? Joseph Labbe died Prairie du Rocher and buried there Aug 1840. The others-George/Joseph Bowen/Bower(s) were indentured to Antoine Portorique in 1817 by Labbe.
Thank you
Fran
