Like you, I'm trying to trace my ancestry. Unfortunately, my family is from Montreal and Rhode Island. However, I would like to share a story that was passed to me by my Uncle, Jean Paul Berard. He told me that four Berard brothers came from France. One stayed in Rhode Island, and the other three went onto Canada. I do not know the year. Luckily my Uncle is still alive so maybe I should ask more. There are also rumors that one branch of the family sold slaves. Do any of this sound familar?

Just a footnote, my husband is from Louisiana, New Orleans/Bogalusa. I've learned to cook Cajun/Creole just like the best of them.
