My name is James Fabian Bernecker/ I forgot to include that in my last message. I am in Jacksonville, Florida. The last remaining child of Stephania is her youngest son, my Godfather, who provided me a lot of the informaton I have and it's in Ancestry. My e-mail is JFBJAX@aol.com. We can communicate whatever way is most convenient for you.

I think we may have found a connection! Her married name was either Slawinski or Slawinska. Stanislawa came over with my grandmother to NYC. My grandmother was Stephania Berch and she had a brother named Albert who is buried in NYC or NJ. The names you have given for her parents appear to be correct with what I have uncovered over the years. I just could not match them because I was only guessing as to how the last name was spelled but Berch is what appears on her death certificate. My Uncle, Fabian Oskierko, Jr., my grandfather's son told me that his mothers father (which I assume now to be Joseph) was the mayor of Ostoleka at one point. Do you have any information on that? I have been unable to find any references to his time in office. He was also reported to be the 7th son of a German Count, and when he died, that son did not inherit anything because there wasn't enough to go around, so he left Germany and moved to Ostoleka. Do you have any information about that.
Have you checked out my work online at Ancestry.com? Check out Bernecker-Oskierko for Stephanias background. There is also a picture of Albert Berch, her brother and child referred to in the family as "Uncle Joe". I have a limited amount of information on them, but the pictures are there for you to see. I believe that now I can connect the dots and take us back to the mid 1800's. I now believe that Stephania and Stanislawa came over to see Casimara and it was not the first time that Stephania had come over. It was on that trip that she met my grandfather and fell in love. I have not been able to find any record of their marriage but it was believed to have taken place in either Newark, Bayonne or Middle Village NY. I have not had time to check out the church records in that area. I honestly think we may be onto something here that will benefit us both! Check out my family history and tell me what you think BTW, what does Carimara translate to? Stanislawa I think was translated to Stella. My mother's name was Caroline so your information would confirm where that name came from...an Aunt! Please keep in touch with me. If you care to talk to be personally I would be happy to receive a call at 904-573-1446 or my email at JFBJAX @ aol.com. I look forward greatly to hearing from you again!

My Great Grandmother was Stanislawa Berch. From what I understand her siblings were Casmira and Frank (and maybe a Caroline and Joseph). She was born in Ostrolenka in about 1888 to Albert and Teofilae Berch. This is far back as I have gotten on this line. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Sarah, I was looking at something regarding Casimara Berch and came across your information. I might be able to help you now. My grandmother was Stephania Berch, whose father was mayor of Ostoleka, Poland. She married Fabian Oskierko. I think we should talk! I believe we may have communicated in the past briefly, but I think it might be worth while for both of us to communicate about Casimara. Do you know what that would translate to in English? My grandmother had a sister who I think was Slawinska. My mother had a girfriend name Slawinki or Slawinksa. I have pictures of her.

Hi Steven,
Carl Berch was my father's biological father. Carl was married to my grandmother Mae Vlach Berch before he married your grandfather(?). They divorced, and my grandmother married John Mincik who adopted my father. I received a lot of information from a Chuck, and I'm waiting for more.

Where do you live? FL? I'm in OH.

I'd love to know more about your side of the family, and I can give you the info I have.

If you wouldn't mind giving me your e-mail, we could exchange family information.

Chuck is supposed to be gathering birth dates and names for me of the family.

Looking forward to "hearing" from you soon.
Thanks,
Rose (Berch) Mincik Carrabine

From marriage records in Mason County, Jane Oldaker
married Henry Burch april 19, 1827, Deborah Oldaker married
William Burch in 1831 and Patsy Wallace(daughter of Luke and Hannah Oldaker) married Ziba Burch 1833. This should answer why you see Oldakers.( Part of Putnam County was formed from Mason County.) Just one more note-----Stephen
Cash born 1819 is buried in Jackson Cemetery. Lee Jackson was married to an Oldaker. Also along the years, two Cash
girls married Oldakers. Emily and Sarah.
Janice

I am interested in finding how these families are related. On a given page of the 1850 Putnam Co Census, I find my ancestors, Stephen and Lucinda Cash. I have been under the assumption from other sources that her maiden name was BERCH. However, studying this one page, I find they are living in the middle, and probably on the property, of several BURCH's. Also, living in some of the households are Oldaker, Whittington, and Reice.
