Berendts from Pomerania

I am looking for any possible Berendts (or similar spellings) family ties to Prussia, particularly NE Germany or Poland. My 2nd great grand father was Hermann Gottfried Berendts (1852-1911) who was born in Saxony and died in Stettin. There apparently was at least one brother and uncle alive at the time of his passing. These names have been lost over the generations, however, and I am desperately trying to explore any possible family ties. Children's names include Karl, Rheinhold, Hermann and Ella. Other related family names include Bliesener (Posen area). My sincere thanks for any possible leads to NE Germany families with the last name of Berendts during the above time frame.

Drew Berendts

Theresia Berends Steinroder of Volkmarsen area of Germany

I have inherted a small genealogy of the Steinroder family of Volkmaren, Germany. I can't find a Steinroder message board so am trying to find someone related to one of the female branches who might be interested in having this genealogy.

Theresia Berends married Godefridus Petrus Steinroder in 1762.

Their son, Henricus Godefrid Steinroder was born in 1763 and married Maria Gertrud Aloas.

This genealogy goes back a couple more generations of the Steinroder branch as well as going forward several more generations from the Berends/Steinroder marriage.

The genealogy does not list the name of Theresia Berends - as far as I can tell. The document is in German.

I am also in search of the Beerends name. The family we are searching is Gerrit jan Beerends and Fennigje Gommers. They beleive the name spelling changed when Lucas Beerends came to America in 1868. They believe by accident. This family is from the Dalen, Drenthe Netherlands.
Lucas came to America with Lambert Overbergen family. Lucas is the fourth child of Gerrit and Fennigje. We don't have very much information on the Beerends family in Holland. We are also in need of help.If you can be of some help or you think these names are connected please let me know. Thank you

My Berends Line....

Hi Theo,
I have just begun researching my father's line of the family tree...
He is only the second generation of our line that was born in the US. His grandpa came to the states in 1870, married and settled in west Michigan...where I live now.
Are you anywhere near Coevorden, Netherlands? This is where my great grandpa was born in 1844. His name was Jan Hendrik Berends. His father is supposedly Egbert Berends, born 1801 also in Coevorden, Netherlands.
Could you possibly be related? E-mail me anytime with Berends as the subject... Thank you for any help you can give...

Hank or Peter Berends

Thanks for being willing to help. As far as Hank goes, I do not know his middle name (Peter?), or the places he was born, married, or died. I have all the dates and siblings. I believe that Peter was born somewhere in Holland and died in Glenwood City, WI. I do not know where he married Mary Cornelissen or where she was born or died. I believe that Peter came to America in 1888. I do not know his middle name or anything about his parents or farther back. Thanks again in advance.

Berends surname

Hello. My name is Edwin Wilhelm Berends--named after my grandfather--and reside in Sacramento, California. I was born in Batavia, Neth. East Indes and came to the US from the Indes via Holland many years ago. I don't know too much about my family history, except that my ancestors left Holland for the East Indes some time in the 1800s. I still have aunts, uncles and cousins living in Holland (Den Haag and Amesterdam areas). Some of my ancestors on the Berends side came to Holland, I am told, from Hesse or Saxony (maybe it was from some other state in that region of Germany) back in the 1700s...there are also one or two Frenchmen in the family tree, also in the 1700s or early 1800s.

Do you reside in the US or Holland?

Nancy - thank you for replying to my message. I spoke to my parents and they said to tell you hello. I had an error in my original family message: Grandma Barens' maiden name is Steele not Radar. That is my mother's mom's maiden name. Anyway I will keep you updated on any information I find. I am just getting started with this, so I don't have much. Pease feel free to contact me, personally, at my email address: MnMZ@aol.com. If you would send yours we could keep in touch that way. I would also appreciate it if you would reply to this message as I will have them delete it after you receive it due to my email address being in it. Good to hear from you and Good Luck!
