Surnames: Beresford, Hassall, Tipper, Orange, Clarke
I am descended from Richard Beresford b. 11 Jul 1761 in Parwich, Derbyshire, England. His wife was certainly named Elizabeth; less certain is her maiden name believed to be Tipper. He immigrated to USA in 1819; occupation in England was cordwainer. He died in Cincinnati, Ohio and was buried originally in an Episcopal cem. there in 1828. Later transferred to Spring Grove Cem. on 28 Apr 1846.
Not sure who Richard's parents were (let me know if you have any missing pieces) although I have a family tree of older generations of Beresfords in Derbyshire in a number of towns including Parwich. Thomas Beresford of Newton Grange, Derbyshire, married Agnes Hassall about 1467 and is credited with founding the Parwich branch of the Beresford tree along with these other branches: Irish, Fenny Bentley, Alstonfield, Dale, Newton Grange, London, and Lincolnshire. The oldest one on the tree is John de Beresford, Lord of Beresford 1087 (might be his birth year).
A niece of Thomas Beresford 4 generations later named Elyn Beresford married another Beresford named Anthony in the 1610-1620 period; the pair is listed on the same tree as having descendants in Parwich.
Found a Francis Beresford (wife Mary unknown) in Parwich in the IGI who was the right age to be the father of Richard but no proof. An alternative more remote chance was that John Beresford b. 1733 in Parwich was Richard's father; John was the son of Anthony and Mary. Looking to put the pieces together with more data if its out there.
