Helen M. Kollig, 86, of Liverpool, NY died Tuesday (March 18, 2008) at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

She was born Dec. 12, 1921 in Wesley, NY
the daughter of the late Carl and Emma (Berg) Ruper."

Helen graduated from high school in 1939 and then went on to graduate from nursing school in 1943. She and her late husband Louis (1978) operated the former Dutch Kitchen Restaurant in Silver Creek from 1946 to 1963.
She then went on to work as a registered nurse at the Gowanda Psychiatric Center in Gowanda until her retirement to Pinellas Park, Fla., in 1981.
Helen was an active volunteer at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla.

She moved to Parkrose Estates in Liverpool in 2005 where she resided until her passing.
Her hobbies included quilting and knitting.
She especially enjoyed the time she was able to spend with family.
Survivors include one son, John (Beverly) Kollig of Canastota, NY;
one brother, Robert (Jo) Ruper of Lakeland, Fla.;
three grandsons, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Kollig of Delhi, NY,
and Eric Kollig
and Scott Kollig, both of Clarence;
one granddaughter, Christine Kollig of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three great granddaughters, Emily, Ani and Mya of Delhi, NY. Besides her parents
and husband,
she was preceded in death by one son, James Kollig (2003)
and one sister, Dorothy Manning (1999).

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral chapel from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 21.
