How interesting!
My picture is not an original. Just a print. It pictures a little girl lying on her stomach, in some grass, under a small apple tree. A red and orange ball lies close by. In the background is a hint of the corner of a white house, with a shuttered window.
The back is stamped "Under the Apple Tree" By C. Von Bergen. It says under the title, "Whose talent as a painter of childrens subjects is world-famed; a picture full of buoyant life and the laughter of youth and mellow sunshine of the old orchard." Really sappy stuff.
The print is tired and pretty fragile and has a bit of wear on the edges. But no date anywhere. The little girl is sort of chubby with dark hair. Ring any bells for you?
