I am interested in finding more information on Abraham, my ggg grandfather who died 1860 in Medina Co. Ohio. Does anyone know if he left a will or if there are probate papers for his estate?

I have a Salome BERGEY of southeast PA, but she is not in my direct line. The BERGEYs and HUNSINGERs crossed further down my line and that's probably how I found her. Also, I have her marrying Henry GARGAS. Anyway, this is what I have:
Salome BERGEY
born: 22 May 1753 in Salford Township, PA
Died: 22 Apr 1833 in
Doylestown, PA.
She was the daughter of John Ulrich BERGEY and Mary Gerhart CLEMENS.

I have in my family, Henry Keller b. Feb 27, 1747 Salford Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania m. ca. 1773 Salome Bergey and Salome Keller b. ca. 1750 Salford Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania ( sister of Henry)m. Abraham Bergey Sept. 3, 1776. Hope that this helps someone.

I have a Michael Gehman who married Anna Bergey, daughter of Abraham Bergey and Elizabeth Goff (my ggg grandparents). Any relation? They lived in Medina Co. OH. Another daughter, Susanna is my gg grandmother.

The Bergey Genealogy is by David Hendricks Bergey, printed c 1925. I have used this book in a library and have only a few copied pages from this which contain my line. It goes back to the immigrant ancestor, John Ulrich Bergey, who, the book says came from Switzerland c. 1719 and landed in Pennsylvania.

Do you know of a V.G. Bergey who may have been born in PA and married someone by the name of Mary Jane Bowers?
Mary Jane was b.Abt. May 1840 in Ohio but died in February 1886 in Wise Twp., Isabella Co., Michigan. I don't have information on where her husband was buried.
We are trying to find some Bergeys that can tell my husbands family more about the Bowers family also.

Saturday - July 18, 1903

BOY BADLY INJURED

Abraham OBERHOLTZER, an eleven year old boy, of Woxall, met with an accident
on Tuesday morning that may cause him serious trouble to recover, and after
healed, he will be maimed for life. The boy resides with his step-father,
Eleasor BERGEY, who had been mowing grass in his yard. After finishing his work he
left the scythe standing on the ground against the fence. The boy, while
playing, came running along, stepped on the scythe and then fell. In falling the
blade almost severed his left leg at the knee joint, all the tendons were cut,
the bone was laid bare and profuse hemorrhages followed. Drs. GROFF and KEELOR
were hastily summoned to dress the wound. An anaesthetic was administered and
after long and tedious effort the wound was properly dressed. The physicians
say it will take from five to six months to heal the wound and that the boy will
have a stiff leg for life

BERGEY'S HELD A BIG REUNION

One of the largest family reunions held in the Schuylkill Valley this year,
was that of the BERGEY family, at Sanatoga Park, Saturday. Seven hundred
descendants of Jean Ulrich BERGEY, who came to this country from the Palatinate, in
1717, and settled what is now Lower Salford township, were present. The next
reunion will be held at Zieber's Park, along the Norristown and Lansdale
trolley line. The date selected is August 27, 1904.

I have a copy of the small book. It's a paperback. My Aunt has a much larger hard back copy of the Bergey's. I can send you a copy of my smaller book and it includes some pictures of the family.

If you would like the addresses of my Aunt's and my father I can send them to you. They have a lot of information about the family and others living in Washington state.

Hi - I just saw you message on Roots Web about Alexander Bergey. The Alexander Bergey I know about was b. 1836 in Centrey, France. He died before 1900 and is buried in the Ferguson Cemetery in Osage Co., MO. He married Mary/Maria Elizabeth Gaulin in Clearfield, PA about 1865. They had 3 children. The 2 older children John Albert and Mary Elizabth were born in Clearfield. The 3rd child was born in Osage Co., MO. Alexander was also married to an Eliza Jane Shelton and they had one child. You forgot your father in law's sister Mary Jean. That's my mom. My oldest brother is named after your wife's dad Jay Wesley Gehman

J. Wesley's maternal grand parents are Harvey and Martha Clemmer. Just google on Amandus Bergey and you will find their obituaries.

Bergey book for sale

I have got the Bergey book for sale, full name of the book is " Genealogy of the Bergey family ", and this is a record of the descendants of John Ulrich Bergey and his wife Mary. The book was printed in 1925, it is in almost new condition, it has 1150 pages, it is 2.5 inches thick. I have seen this book elsewhere for $200.00 dollars and not in even good condition. I am willing to sacrifice this fabulous book for only $125.00 or maybe to the best reasonable offer.Please contact me by email only. I am looking for information on an Alexander Bergey born around 1800 in France. He married Elizabeth Picard who was born in 1802 in France. They had a child John B. Bergey Born Dec. 25, 1835 in Cintrey, France and moved to PA and had a daughter Elizabeth Born Oct. 8, 1838 in PA.. John B. Bergey is my GG Grandfather. I have no information about my GGG Grandfather Alexander. Can anyone help me?

I know of a book that my grandmother had
when I was a child, it listed all of
the bergeys . I could not read the book
because of the handwritting, however, could
you look to see if you come accross of
sarah bergey, borned in apirl, ? who
married william heckler, her parents were
dead and all of her brothers and sisters

A photocopy of the Bergey Book can be purchased for $168.00 from Higginson Book Company, 148 Washington Street, P.O. Box 778, Salem, MA 01970. The republication that I would like to do is a few years away yet. Trying to update all the names in the original publication of 1925 is quite daunting. Until 2 weeks ago, I had the book on my computer with almost 37,000 names. A mechanical problem with my computer has now corrupted my file and destroyed my back-up. I have to start all over again. So I'll be awhile before I'm ready to republish. I would like to add your family line to my project if you are interested. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Sadie died 15 Jan 1976 in Quakertown Hospital, Quakertown, Bucks County, PA. The only info I have about her parents are their names: John U. and Annie Sybilla (RODES) UFFNER.
If your son-in-law is a descendant of Theodore and Sadie or of Raymond and Daisy Strunk, I would love to hear from you. I am updateing the Bergey Family book, published in 1925, and hope to someday republish it.

Bill Bergey lived at 615 York Ave., Landsdale, Pa. during the 1950,s he was a painter. His cousin or brother in law was John Agnew Heaney who lived next door to him at 613 York Ave. It is believed that Bill was in a partnership with John Heaney as a painting team. Bill,s nephew was Joseph Bergey Hackman who married John Heaney,s sister Jennie Victoria Heaney. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have found a Laura Mae Bergey b. 1874 (10 year discrepancy) in New Dundee, Waterloo, Ontario, whose parents were Oliver BERGEY and Margaret CLEMENS.

Laura M. BERGEY and Wilke J. TAYLOR lived outside London, Ontario, on the TAYLOR farm. Their daugher, Mary Belle TAYLOR, was my husband's mother.

Any intersection with your BERGEY relatives?? You mention a common immigrant ancestor?? Is the origin of BERGEY German or perhaps Scandanavian?

In an effort to try to find Amos Z. Myers ancestry, I came across an entry on FTM search that had a little blurb about SALLIE married Rev. Amos Z. Myers, DD, bor 16 May 1866.
Amos was the grandson of my g-g-g-g-grandmother, but I can't find out who his parents were! I have a Bible that belonged to her (my gggg-grandmother) and in it is a notation that Amos made about Grandmother having given him the Bible.
Any help on the Bergey/Myers connection would be appreciated. The information on FTM search said it was on P 123 and 338 of the Genealogy of the Bergey Family. Anyone have that book? and perhaps could help me? I'd appreciate it!!
