Neat, I didn't know that the Burgis were in Alsace as soon as Leonard's life. I know a lot of them moved there from Switzerland at some point but I recall Internet family trees (not a good reference I know) saying that he was from near Thun, so I assumed that the migration came later. Do we find his presence in Alsace from church records? There isn't any doubt that Leonard's family was originally from Switzerland, is there? I matched DNA with a "Burcky" who is descended from more recent immigrants from Alsace, and it seems that everyone else I match DNA with has their origin in the Emmental. Although, I haven't proven either that I descend from Leonard or that the fellow I matched DNA with is related to Leonard... which is why I'm so interested in seeing if any proven descendants of Leonard have taken a DNA test yet. However, all of the best candidates I have so far for Hugh Parkey's father are apparently descended from Leonard, so I think it's a good place to start looking for a connection.
