If you don't get any takers, I will take it and give it to a local genealogical library here in Texas. I hope someone that needs it will grab it up since I already have a copy for my own personal use. What was your library thinking? Throw it out..

Olive Mae,
Do you have any other names, it's a very big book and if I can cross check some other names I might find someone for you. The Berkey's came into the America's through PA and most were Minonite, therefore there are records someplace about your family.
Pat,

I viewed your post re: Goldia Celestia Bruse who was my mother-in law.
She was definitely one of Aaron S. Berkey and Mable Emma Lechlitner’s children. I hope this adds toyour research.

Goldia Celestia Berkey b. 06/02/1905 Olive, Elkhart, IN d. 02/05/1979 Mesa, Maricopa, AZ. Buried Rice Cem. Elkhart, Elkhart, IN
m. date unknown. Her granddaughter says she was born in Wakarusa, which differs from her obituary data. I have seen another name for her as Golda and her children have never heard this name used for her.
She married Earl Bruse b.11/11/1900 Elkhart, Elkhart, IN d. 01/23/1979 Mesa, Maricopa, AZ. Buried Buried Rice Cem. Elkhart, Elkhart, IN
Earl was employed by and retired from the New York Central RR in Elkhart and told me he was employed as a clerk.
They originally owned a small restaurant that served workers in an Elkhart Industrial area and later bought a very large restaurant out of town called Millers Country Restaurant which after their deaths went to their daughter Gloria lee Bruse and was eventually sold.

Goldia had 4 children and at first a set of twins that died the day after birth named as follows:
1. Lillian Maxine Bruse b. 01/04/1925 d. 01/05/1925. I assume in Elkhart, Elkhart, IN.
2. Letta Bernadine Bruse b. 01/04/1925 d. 01/05/1925. I assume in Elkhart, Elkhart, IN
3. Gloria Lee Bruse b. 01/11/1933 Chicago, Cook, IL d. 11/17/2007 Fallon, Churchill,
NV. Death cause cancer buried garden Funeral Home Cemetery Crematorium at
Fallon, Churchill, NV.

Gloria married Robert Flowers (No data for him/ their marriage or divorce date)
They had Patricia Gale Flowers b. 07/18/1953 Assumed at Elkhart , Elkhart, IN - Living at Fallon, Chirchill, NV. Patricia’s 2nd marriage was to Mark Paul Kubiak (No data or marriage date for him) They had Brian Paul Kubiak and Angela Gale Kubiak (No data for them). her third marriage was to Edward Moog (No data for him).

4. Peggy Gale Bruse b. 03/29/1935 Elkhart, Elkhart, IN – living. She had a short marriage to a man named Criesler or Crisler which was annulled in Elkhart, Elkhart, Indiana.then moved to California and had her 2nd marriage to (me) Alan Herbert D’Orsay b. 09/03/1933 San Francisco, San Francisco, CA. – Living m 05/15/1952 Gardnerville, Douglas, NV (I don’t have the div. date at my finger tips at the moment). We had two children as follows.
Sherry Lynn D’Orsay b. 07/11/1954 Elkhart, Elkhart, Indiana – Living . 1st marriage was to Paul Johnson (no data, no children) He was a district manager for Firestone Tires. 2nd marriage was to Donald Dreger (no data, no children) 3rd marriage was to David Twomey b. 03/10/1959 – Living. He is a truck driver and they live in Modesto, CA they have two children Jered Twomey b. 10/19/1992 – Living and Mark Twomey b. 03/08/1994 - Living

Peggy’s marriage #3 was to William Eddy (No data for him or their marriage date but it was shortly after our divorce which was about 1970).

The name Bruse that this family went by was changed from Bruce to Bruse and as far as I have researched the name change only occurs with Earl Bruse as all the others preceding him are Bruce’s. His granddaughter Patricia said somewhere along the line it was changed because there were so many Bruce’s which I doubt very much. I also have his genealogy back to his grandparents (1819) other parts of it go to 1776 and all data was sourced if interested.

There is an on-line book which contains genealogy for the names of the following Berkey’s listed in the next paragraph. To access it most public libraries offer it through Heritage Quest ON-Line and it can be obtained on your home computer. You must first get a password at your local library to use Heritage Quest via your library card. Then when at home enter the password and it will allow you access to all the censuses as well as on-line books. When it opens go to Search Books and when it opens click the link People and when it opens then type in the name Holdeman in the Person’s name box and the book will appear.

Anna Elnora 491, Beuhah May 491, 493, Charles Robert 495, Clara Ethyl 491, 494, Florence Myrtle 491, 494, Goldia Celestia 491, 494, Grace Edith 494, Henry Roscoe 491, Mable Lucretia 491, 493, Mary Edna, 491, 494, Walter Monroe 491, 494 and Wilma, Leona 494, 493.

Alan D’Orsay
I wonder if it can be Frank Ellsworth Berkey b 1873 Fox Twp, Elk Co, PA and died 19 Dec 1945 Hope, Bonner Co, Idaho. His oldest son was Harold Nelson Berkey born 29 Sept 1898 in DuBois, Clearfield Co, PA and died 4 May 1986 in Coeur D Alene, Kootenai Co, Idaho. Frank was the son of my great-great-great-grandfather's brother. I have been in contact with some of Frank Ellsworth Berkey's descendants.

Yes, I do know that Oma is a German word for grandmother, though as I don't speak German I didn't know what it was short for. (so thank you for that.) Odd thing about Aunt Oma is that as far as I know she was called this from the time she was at least 15 or 16 years old. Maybe she was a "mother" to younger siblings, or maybe it is short for something else. The two girls in the family were confusingly (to me) named Hettie and Hattie, so it also may have been a way to distinguish them.

I'd be happy to send you copies if you'd like them. Of course, you may have more photos than I do, since you lived with Aaron and his daughter Mary!

My g grandfather was Charles F. Konvicka b. 1860-1870 died 1930. He was one of many children. When he was born they thought his mother would die so he was given to a rich married sister to raise. His mother recovered and had several more children but never took him back. His parents (his father's name was also Charles) came to America and supposedly settled in Texas. Then a little while later his sister who was raising him died so he went to America to join them. He ended up working on a ranch where he met my ggrandmother Anna Mican. They came from either the same town or nearby ones. They married in about 1890. Had a ranch in Marble Falls, Burnet County, Texas where they are buried. Had many children. I am trying to locate his parents and siblings. Do you have any ideas where they could be?

I am also researching the Berkey family you are seeking. I have some information on Rose's parents, but I don't know what happened to the Berkey family after 1930, especially Rose. We knew her husband as Thomas Berkey, but don't know what happened to him either. Did he remain with the Russian church, or go over to the Catholic church which is what we heard? Did Rose remarry? Look forward to hearing from you.

Interested in your Naugle and Naher surnames. I have a Louis Naher born abt.1816 marring Caroline in 1828 in Birkenfeld Germany they had 4 children. The oldest Elizabeth born 1840 married Wunibald Nagele in Philadelphia PA, about 1855. Wunibald Nagele born Germany 1832 came to America 1854.
Any connections for leads as to films or books which may have information on Naher's.
Thanks for any help.
Marian in Virginia Beach
