BEACHWOOD – Kathryn B. “Katie” (Berkowitz) Chentow, 101, died Sept. 17, 2011, in Beachwood, Ohio.

She was the beloved wife of Leslie (deceased); devoted mother of Lynn Chentow (Michael Cramer) of Beachwood, Ohio, Dr. Geoffrey Chentow of Youngstown, Ohio and Craig Chentow (deceased); loving grandmother of Kimberly Jill Chase of Boynton Beach, Fla.; dear sister of Charles and Isadore Berkowitz (both deceased).

Together with her husband, Leslie, they opened Leslie’s Furniture Co. in Youngstown, OH in 1938. Kate worked there until the store’s closing in 1978.

Kate was a member of the Congregation Rodef Sholom in Youngstown for over 50 years.

Graveside services will be held at the Rodef Sholom Cemetery (Tod Homestead Cemetery), 2200 Belmont Ave. in Youngstown on Monday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m.

The family requests no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Congregation Rodef Sholom of Youngstown or the charity of choice.
