BERLINER: Arnold J. and parents Mark S. and Pauline

On of the sadest part of my job as the Director of a Charitable Thift Store is receiving family photos and memoriabilia that have been lost to history/genealogy.

We have in our possession the Baby Book of Arnold Jay Berliner b. 3/16/1928 to parents Mark S. and Pauline Berliner in New York, but the family may have later lived in the Chicago or Miami areas.

We are interested in returning this to any family member free of charge. Please let me know if you have knowledge of any living Berliners?

Looking for info on sarah berliner-goodman. 1880 cencus puts her name as berliner but, living with Goodman childernand no recorded husband. When she died in 1892 announcement from her son put her a Berliner-Goodman. Two of her son's opened and ran Goodman,s Clothing in Fresno Ca, in the early 1900's. Sol & Jake. Any info out there????

My grandfather's name was Harry Berliner-don't know if it's the same one who was the witness at your greatparents wedding. He emigrated to the US with his brother Rueben about 1920 or so-I never knew him-he died in 1946.

Vera at the age of 95, is now at peace with her husband Aubrey Berliner Sr and sons Dennis and Dale Berliner. Survived by Aubrey Jr, Daryl and Maggie, Lynn and Chris Berliner and Deborah Estelita, also 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all. Memorial Service on Aug. 15, 2009, 1:00 pm, Church of the Nazarene, 495 Hawthorne Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Pathways Hospice Foundation, 585 North Mary Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94085.

This is probably a long shot, but here goes.

My great grandparents came to England from Russian Poland in about 1889/1890 with their 3(ish) year old son. They were Abraham Isaac Klein, Joyce BERLINER Klein and my grandfather Israel Klein.

There seem to be no records of them in the UK. My grandfather naturalised in 1920 and took the name Cyril Keene - I never knew him - he died in 1942.

At my grandparents marriage at Princes Road Synagogue in Liverpool in October 1910, (Israel married Miriam Blumenthal of Liverpool) one of the witnesses was a Harry Berliner and I am wondering whether my great grandmother's maiden name was Berliner as well, since she used it as a middle name.

As I said, I know it's a long shot - but you never know.....

Any information gratefully received.

BIG SANDY TOT KILLED BY FALL

Big Sandy, 1 Jul - Leopold Berliner, small son of Mr. & Mrs. J.P. Berliner, was found dead Saturday night about six o'clock in an irrigation ditch near their home. The boy, who was eighteen months old, apparently tripped on a long coat which he was wearing and fell into the water and never regained consciousness. He was found by his sister Arabelle who immediately called her father. A doctor was summoned but the child died before aid could be reached.

The child is survived by his parents and three sisters and two brothers; Ilene, Arabelle, Mildred, Wilfred, Gerald. Mr. & Mrs. Berliner and family came to Big Sandy last year from Dutton and have resided on the Countryman place, two and a half miles east of Big Sandy since then.

Funeral services will be held in the local Catholic church at 8 o'clock. Father Finnicune will conduct the services and burial will be in the local cemetery.

Good luck with the "Berliners." I have been searching for some time for a Berliner, first name Ephraim, who had a son, my greatgrandfather Henry, Born NYC 1852. There must have been a name change for Henry from Berliner to Page. Ephraim is reported to have come from Germany. He married Bertha Albea Meyers, also born in Germany

Since Henry was born in 1852 in NYC, he predates Frank's emmegration. Berliner may only mean an immegragation clerk's mistake.

HELP!! Okay I give someone out there help. I've been doing my husband's family (Berliner, Berlener) for quite a while and I'm stuck. I have been trying to find information on 2 people (his G.Grandparents) Frank (Francisco in church records) Berliner and Mary Hahn. I found out Frank is from Oldenberg, Germany. He came to America in 1878. Nut that's where It grows cold. I need more info or something I can't find Him.

Seeking any descendants of GITLA & SIMEON BERLINER of WARSAW, Poland. Simeon died prior to 1911. Gitla was alive in 1911. Their Children were, SOLOMON, my Grandfather who left Warsaw in 1890 for London. JACOB who married BRANDLA FRYDMAN and whose offspring were, RENE, FELA AND SZYMON.
PINKUS whose Offspring were FELA, SALOMEA, ROSY and HENRY.
ROZA who married SCHIMON WECHSLER and whose offspring were, TERRYK, PINKUS & EWA.
One other Daughter, Name unknown

ROZA has a Death Notice in NASZ PREZLAND Publications, noting that she died in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1937.

Does anyone know of any Descendants of Sisters FELA and FRANIA Berliner. They were Survivors from the Lodz Ghetto.

Their Parents were JACOB, my Great Uncle and his Wife BRANDLA (FRYDMAN). They were all in the LODZ GHETTO.

Two other Children were SZYMON who died in the WARSAW GHETTO from pneumonia in 1941 and another Sister RENE whose fate is unknown.

Please contact me if you can give me any information for which I thank you in advance.

I am searching for Ephraim Berliner and his son Henry Berliner. The name was changed to Page. I believe he came to the US and settled in Ill or Mich and then moved to New York City. It was said that Ephraim was a teacher or Rabbi who may have been married before moving to NY and marrying my grandmother Berthan Albea (Mueller)
Perhaps he left a family behind in Ill or Mich to move to NY and start a new life

BERLINER of Schlawe, Germany

I am looking for any information on my great-great-great grandmother and her family. Her maiden name was Auguste Berliner (married name: Schumacher). She was born in the 1840's in Schlawe, Germany. Her husband, Ludwig Schumacher, was from Treptow, Germany, in the region of Pommern. Auguste's mother's name was Scharlotte, and she had a sister named Ida Berliner. We have no information on them and I am hoping that someone else is looking into this family line and may have something. I have no idea what her father's name was. Ludwig and Auguste came to America in 1880 and settled into Chicago in June 1880. They had 9 kids. If anyone knows anything on this line, PLEASE e-mail me. Thank you.

There are also pictures of seven kids. I am looking for the family history of
Max BERLINER who was born in 1893 in Poland.
Max Berliner died in the Morro Castle
ship disaster off Asbury Park, NJ. Sept 8, 1934.
Funeral was at Flatbush Memorial Chapel, 1283 Coney Island Ave.
Brooklyn, NY (from the New York Times Sept 14, 15 and 16, 1934)
He was a member of The Knights of Pythias -Claremore Lodge #451
He was also a member of the Tobacco Salesman's Association and the
Merchants' and Salesman's Club of Brooklyn.

When Max and his brother Harry Manual entered Ellis Island the worker
may have changed their names to BERLINER as they had a difficult
foreign sounding name. They were born in an area of Poland that is now
Russia. Max entered the US through Ellis Island probably not before
1905 and likely prior to 1911. A younger brother Harry Manual
probably accompanied him. Max and Harry also had a sister Tillie.
Max also had a first cousin (?) Bennie Pincus who was a jeweler.

Max BERLINER was married to Bertha GOLDSTEIN in 1916 in New
York, NY. Bertha GOLDSTEIN was born about 1896 in New York,
NY. She died in 1963. Bertha had a cousin or uncle, Barnet WOLFF
who served as a New York City alderman for a time circa 1920.
Children of Max BERLINER and Bertha GOLDSTEIN were: Gladys
BERLINER born 1917; Arthur Kermit BERLINER born 1920 and
Phyllis BERLINER born 1927
