Did Edward have a sister Judy? I am looking for info about a woman named Judy Bernstein who married Joey Pappalardo, probably in the 1950's. He died in Brooklyn, Kings, New York in 2011. I know nothing more about Judy Bernstein, other than her name, and am eager to learn more. Thank you.

I ran across your message when trying to track down Jehuda Bernstein - he and my father were students at U of New Mexico right after WWII and excavated ruins in Gallina country (north of Santa Fe). I wish I knew something of your half-brother but my father lost track of yours a couple years later.

Dear Beshert74, I believe I am a very distant cousin on the Bernstein Side. My G-G-Gf was Nathan Baruch Bernstein who married Yetta Richardson...both from Minsk. They moved to NYC in the 1870's-1880's and had a bunch of kids one of whom was named Sarah Bernstein. She married an Issac Graidinger who had a son named Leo. Leo married a Thelma Cohen. Now according to your tree, It appears to me that Thelma's mother (pesche goldie Skriloff) had another son named Meyer Kugel Cohen. According to your tree, the home person is William Marks who is married to a private individual who is the daughter of Meyer Kugel Cohen. Please Contact me when you get this through e-mail and I will be more than happy to share information with you!

Andrew Silberfeld
asilbe@optonline.net

This is sarah bernstein-gradinger who I believe is the conenction in our families. She had a brother Samuel who had 2 kids, Edy and Howard. Howard is my grandfather and he would have been Sarah's cousin. I'm the son of Randee Bernstein who is his daughter.
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/29242061/person/12150390364
He died while during this family project and he always wanted to know more about his grandfather nathan. I believe Nathan and Harry Could very well be brothers.

Oddly enough today I told my mother, Anita Zeldner, that I was going to San Diego. "Oh, Fran Nadler, your cousin, is there," she said exitedly. I told her I would look on google and see where she lived. Unfortunately I had to tell my mother that Fran had died in 2009. Mom was very sad. My Dad, Bernie Zeldner, son of Lottie and Charles Zeldner, went to visit his cousin Fran Nadler on Love Lane in Hartford (I always loved that name) when he was 18 and 19 or so He met my mom who lived next door and they got married==eloped with Fran and Jack as a matter of fact! My mom was 16. My Dad died at age 58 but they had been married 35 years. Mom is 93 and living in assisted living, in Voorheese NJ near my sister Michele Zeldner. I also have a brother in Davis, CA, Ishai. Mom got married twice more after my Dad died. She always kept in touch with Fran and, in fact, was quite upset today that noone told her of Fran's death. Mom "has all her marbles" but cannot walk due to two hip fractures. I knew Fran fairly well because of my mom and dad's relationship and friendship with Fran and Jack and I also knew your Dad. So please tell him that I said hello. I now live in Naples, FL. My husband died in October, 2009 after 41 years of marriage. We have three children, all boys. Two grandchildren. I guess this reply gives you my email address if you want to respond.
Hello,
My great grandfather was named Louis, but my great grandmother was AnnaBelle Reinhart/Reinhardt. What's funny is my grandmother Ethel(nee levine) married my grandfather Bernard. My dad is named after Louis and he has a cousin Frieda. Maybe we are somehow related. don't know for sure. Trying to go back further than greatgrandparents, but hit a stone wall. If you think you might have some info you can contact me direct at abr462004@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
AnnaBeth

Vittel Bernstein (Gerchevich, Abramson) b. Kiev, 1872, d. Chicago, 1957

My G-Grandmother (Vittel Bernstein 1872-1957) was from Kiev and married a man named Jacob Gerchevich. She followed him to Chicago around 1906 with their daughters Anna (Rosenbaum) and Bessie (Goldberg), and son Edward (who anglicized his surname to Gertz). Vittel had at least 2 sisters who emigrated to Chicago (Chaike and Deverkah).

Vittel divorced Jacob in about 1912 and owned a restaurant in the Maxwell St. neighborhood, whereupon she met and married my G-grandfather, Sam Abramson. Jacob died before 1920. My spelling of Gerchevich comes from the ss applications of Anna and Bessie.
I am wanting to confirm who Anna is and how many children she had. Is she the same Anna that Married Joseph Rosenbaum and lived in South Bend, IN? He owned Rosenbaum's Dept. Store.
I have 2 kids but want to verify that was all. Evelyn and Irving H.
I have been told that One of the boys is my grandfather but all I have is the the nickname 'Art Shot'. I have no clue why they called him that but I know he owned a fish market just a few doors down from his father's shop on Western Ave. in South Bend. Any information would be great. thanks
Charles

1st Lt. Eugene L. Bernstein of New York, World War II Missing in Action

I am trying to locate relatives of US Army Air Forces 1st. Lt. Eugene L. Bernstein of Brooklyn, New York. 1st Lt. Bernstein was reported missing in action while serving as a B-24 bomber navigator during World War II. He was attached to the 373rd Bomb Squadron, 308th Bomb Group, 14th Air Force. The B-24 was flying from Yangkai, China to Chabua, India on a resupply mission when it disappeared on May 25, 1944. From what I have learned, Lt. Bernstein was born in New York around 1921. At the time of his enlistment (March 19, 1942), his residence was King's County, New York, he was single, and he had four years of high school education. When he joined, the Army serial number he was assigned was 12053203. Later, when he was commissioned as an officer, his serial number became O-674110. The Missing Aircrew Report (MACR) filed for the loss of his aircraft listed his next of kin as his uncle, Dr. Irving Korowitz, 8801 Shore Road, Brooklyn, New York. On October 26, 2008, independent investigator Clayton Kuhles located the wreckage of Lt. Bernstein's aircraft on a mountainside in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, and he reported his discovery to the Defense Department, which he hopes will send a recovery team soon to the crash site.

Gary Zaetz
Cary, North Carolina
email: garyngina@earthlink.net

Bernstein, Paul, Ben, Morris, Harry, Anna

From what I can remember...there were Austerlitz's in the family and most definitely Finkelsteins. My father was one of the sons....who were Ben, Paul, Morris and Harry, plus the daughter Anna who married a Holtzman. Anna had two children...Philip(Fiefke)and Dorothy(Dotsy) ...does this sound familiar to anyone? Morris became a dancer in Vaudeville,I think.
