Re: Frank Oscar Berquist

Hi there - Frank Oscar is my great-great grandfather and I have been researching this family line as well. From public records, it looks like Charles Berquist (also spelled Bergquist and Borgquest) and Hannah Cornelius immigrated to America from Sweden in 1872 (per 1900 census). Charles was born around 1838 in Sweden and died in 1907 in Boston. Hannah was born Dec 1839 in Sweden and, according to census records, was still alive in 1930 at 90yo and living in MA. According to Charles' death certificate, his father was named Gustaf Bergquist, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find Charles' mother or trace further back than that.
As a next step, I am hoping to track down ship records from their immigration to America in 1872 and figure out where in Sweden they came from.
Have you been able to make any progress since posting this message?
Liz

Gunnar was a teacher in the HS there. I thought they were from Elbow Lake, MN. He would be about 86 years of age now. I am curious if there is a connection. L.
