Hi
My BERRIE family is descended from John BERRIE (1819-1888) who owned a Dyer/Cleaner factory in Manchester, Lancashire, England in the latter part of his life.
John was born in Tongland, Kirkcudbright, Scotland and his parents were William BERRY and Janet McMILLAN. William and Janet married in Tongland in 1818 and Janet was born in nearby Balmaclellan.
I don't know where William came from or when or where he died. Janet remarried a Mr TODD sometime before her death in 1875 in Manchester where she was buried in the family plot.
My known BERRIE tree (no puns please!) includes many descendents of John BERRIE, some of whom I have not traced to the present day . So if you have BERRIE roots that go back to the UK in the mid/late 1800s, I'd love to hear from you.
Finally, for ALL BERRIES, please take a look at my brother's site where he maintains a list of BERRIE people and their email addresses around the world. The web page is at http://www.berrie.com/emaillog.htm. Please email Nigel to add yourself to his page.
Thanks
Peter
