Classification: Biography
Surnames: Berry, Posey
The following data was a false trail for me, but I hope it can be useful to someone else.
George W. BERRY was born Aug 1860 probably in Barbour County, Alabama, a son of William BARRY and Martha WILLIAMS who had married 7 Dec 1854 in Barbour County, Alabama.
George W BERRY married about 1891 to Carmilla POSEY who was born Sep 1973 in Alabama.
These five children are found with the couple in the census in Henry, later Houston County, Alabama:
. Clifford BERRY, daughter, b. Sept 1892, m. Clarence Day 6 June 1909 Houston Co
. Polley, daughter, b. Aug 1893
. Ada, daughter, b. Sept 1897, m. Alva Price 21 July 1914 Houston Co.
Bessey, daughter, b. abt 1902
. Lulus B b abt 1905
. Julius, son, b. abt 1906
These three additional children are identified from their parents names in the Alabama death index being George BERRY and Aurelia POSEY, but they were not found with the family in the census:
. Georgia, daughter, b. 15 Nov 1905, m. Joe Gulley d. 13 Oct 1972 in Greenville, Butler, Alabama (same as Lulus B?)
. Maggie, daughter, b. abt 1910, m. Brown, d. 5 Oct 1956 in Montgomery, Montgomery, Alabama
. Johnie, son, b abt Apr 1915 d. 12 Oct 1934 in Selma, Dallas, Alabama (age 19, apparently single)
CENSUS
The Couple are found in the 1900 census in Henry County and in the 1910 census in Houston County after it was created from Henry County, but they they disappear from the records after that.
LAND
George and Carmilla owned a farm in Houston County, Alabama, according to the census, and a kind person looked up their land records in the courthouse:
