Hello, Sorry taken me so long to get back to you. It sounds like a very good possibility that we are related. My grandfater's name is Charlie Edmond Berryhill. I am not sure about my Creek ancestry, but according to a marriage certificate I saw online, it listed a Creek Maiden and thinking that was my Great Grandfather. Silas Berryhill.

I have recently joined the internet and found a link to my father, Russell, in the 1930 Oklahoma census. My parents were divorced when I was born and I never knew anything about my father or his family. I would like any information on my Berryhill side of the family.I see that my grandfather was Charles Shelton and my grandmother was Beulah. I do not know if my father or any relatives are living or not.

Looking for my Berryhill's

Hi all, I have recently started working on my family tree. I really don't know anything about my family out side of my immediate family. My dad never knew his dad and since none of my family seems to speak to each other, it is becoming quite difficult. I know my father and his siblings ( 10 or 11 of them ) all born 1950 - 1965. My grandmothers name is Ruth L Berryhill. I know she lived in Pocomoke, Maryland and in places in Virginia for the last 30 years. Before that I have no idea. I only have the names of about half of my uncles and aunts. James, Holbert, Edward, Margaret and Cathy and maybe a Steven who possibly was mentally or physically handicapped. I think all of the other siblings were older. I am not sure about the last one, I just remember someone mentioning it a long time ago. I think my grandfathers name was also Holbert but I am not sure. My dad traced him to Ohio in the 90's but he had passed away. My dad's siblings live in Ohio, Georgia, Texas, Virginia and Maryland as far as I have found so far.

I have noticed most of my cousins and my own sister and brothers were all born in Salisbury, Maryland within about 5 years of each other, but none of us know each other, or haven't before now. I would love to know what happened if anyone has any ideas of where I could start. From the way my grandmother used to speak I got the impression that my family was from a southern state. Also, my grandmother, Ruth's family was native american.

I feel like that is a lot of information about my family, but I still can't seem to really find anything. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I can't ask anyone in my family about any of this and I found that my cousins know about as much as I do, within their family. My grandmother seems to have cut herself off from everyone and I haven't spoken to my dad in 15 years or so.

Thank you for any help in advance!

Angela Berryhill Lovelace

Hi Steven, Could you tell me more about your family? I don't know much about my father's family. Pretty much nothing really except that he has many (about 10) siblings and I know his mothers family was native american. I believe my grandfathers name was Holbert Berryhill, Sr.

My grandfather was Lannes Moncey Berryhill. All of his family said there were Cheokee Indians in the family, however, I've not found any and you're the first Berryhill I've connected with that says the same thing about the Cherokee Indian in our family.

My mother was the daughter of Lannes M. and Dora Lee Burnett. He died in 1900 and 4 or 5 years later my grandmother fell and broke her hip. I'm not sure why my mother, Myrtle Viola, and her sister, Annie Gertrude were put in the Juliett Fowler Orphans Home but my mother, Myrtle Viola, was adopted by J.M. & Laura Davis Mobley of Lubbock and her sister, Annie Gertrude, was adopted by a Mr. & Mrs. Adam Wiseman of Clarendon, Tex. We have not been able to find any information on Annie Gertrude after she was adopted. My mother was born in 1900.

Dear Charles,

When I respond to you through Ancestry.com on here and type in the box, as I get closer to the bottom it allows me to keep going. There is no limit to how much you can type. If you would like to respond to my email I would like that very much. It's Sleek1313@fuse.net. Josie! That is the name I remember now. Not Flossie. I remember my mother speaking of her. When you were referring to Pleasant being a heavy drinker, were you referring to our grandfather or his son, Pleasant? Maybe you named Pleasant and Sarah as the parents and then he had 5 children? I would love to here the story about the covered wagon trip and Pleasant traveling to bury Sarah. Who was Charles Harcher? What part of Miss. do you live?

Sandy

Hello again, Dad's family was Plesant, Sarah, Sam, my dad Oscar(dad was second oldest), Josaphine (Josie) she was mentaly weak, Clarence and Effie.According to what dad told me, the family history is not correct on some things.I have been in touch with Robert's wife. But not lately. We don't believe Pleasant was a preacher. My dad became a preacher and when Pleasant was dying he called dad to his bed side to talk to him abount being ready to die. Dad asked if he was ready to go. He said "Oscar I'm working on it. Pleasant was a heavy drinker Also history doesn't tell about the other excutions. There were 12 in all including one woman who he turned his back and shot her over his shoulder. Dad's family lived in a log cabin with a dirt floor.Da worked in the council house as a boy with Chief IspDad said the family rode all day in a horse pulled wagon to bury Sarah To much to tell in this short space Thanks, Charlesharcher who he called Chief "Spike).

Dear Charles, This is fantastic. So happy I am meeting you. My mother Bette Jo, was the youngest child of Pleasant and Jeanetta. My mother was 3 yrs. of age when Jeanetta died and 7 when Pleasant died. I often wondered how many children Pleasant and Sarah had? Was there a girl named Flossie? That is the only child I remember my mother talking about saying she wasn't quite right, maybe born at birth with a mental defect or slow. I would imagine your father was in his 40's by the time my mother was born. Have you had contact with my cousin Robert L. Berryhill from MO? I guess you and I are first step-cousins? I sure wish I could learn all the history. I was 1 or 2 years of age when my parents took myself and my brothers and sister to Okmulgee. I don't remember any of it. I am 56 yrs. of age and have an older sister age 64, a brother age 63 and another brother age 58. Attached is a photo of my mother as a young girl. Please stay in touch.
Sincerely,
Sandy Koenig
Hi Sandy, We have the same grandfather but not grandmother. I am from Pleasants marrage before Jeanetta. My Dad (Oscar)was born in the Creek Nation in Jan. 1888. Dad left the Nation. in the 1940s. We moved to Mississippi where Dad passed away in 1970 at 82 years. I am 73 an still live in Ms. I took my family to Okmulgee last week. We visited Pleasant and Jeanetta's grave site in Hitchita. But I cannot locate my GrandMother (Sarah's) grave.Even though dad was only 8 yrs old when Pleasant shot Timmy Jack. He was fond of Timmy Jack because he stayed at their house.I believe I'm about out of space. Thanks, Charles
