Thank you for your reply. Since my first query, I found more information on Sarah Bertine. From a family letter and a newspaper obituary I have learned the following: Her full name was Sarah Adeline Bertine, born 1818 in NYC. She died in 1903, buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Elmhurst. She had a sister named Mary Ann, (according to the letter). Sarah's first husband was John L. Way. Their two children were Oscar and Susan. From the obituary, it states that Sarah was the daughter of Peter Bertine, a shoe merchant and manufacturer from NYC. He retired to Mt. Vernon. Any other information you find in the book would be greatly appreciated. Is the book you mentioned available for sale that you know of? I would like to buy it for my mother.
