None of these are in my line. Do you know what county and state any of your ancestors were in?
If so, I would suggest you start with the census. You are lucky in a way,because after 1850 everyone one in the
family is listed by ame and age. Thus, you could go to the census data and perhaps find the entire family. Of course, they would have had to be
there when the census was taken, i.e. at the beginning of each new year period. There were bertons in the us as early as 1556 and the 1770 census listed a number.
However, they are not much help for you because you need later years to find the name of all in the family. I may be telling you things you already know so let me know if you have any experience in tracing your family. That will give me some
indication of what you might do.
