William John Smith Besley

Looking for more info on William John Smith Besley born about 1850 in Seaton, Devon. He married Emily Dare Coles. I have their marriage certificate but it doesn't give William's father's name (just recorded as Besley). If anyone has any info on this couple it would help me tremendously as I've hit a brick wall as far as tracing the families back any further!! Thanks, Emma.

Hello Noeleen,
My wife's great great grandfather was William B. Besley. I have been researching her family history as a gift to her. I have a photocopy of a photo of Mr. & Mrs. Besley in a horse drawn carriage in front of their malt house. I also have an engraved bond certificate from the brewery with coupons attached. My wife's cousin who lives in illinois has a photo of the brewery proper. I just received court documents from 1885 showing William B. Besley sued William Besley, Mary E. Devlin and Marion C. Warren. I haven't had time to read all of it yet but it appears the suit was over a land transaction. I also have a partial copy of William B. Besley's personal diary. Are you related to the Besley family? Please feel free to contact me at jlouismolnar@yahoo.com
Regards,
Jerry Molnar
BESLEY

I am just returning to my family history research after a long absence. I would like to construct a family tree for BESLEY.

Ernest Besley, born 1894, married Mary Ann Tuxford, born 8 February, 1852, Castlereagh, New South Wales, Australia in 1907 in New South Wales, Australia. Mary died in 1940.

Can anyone give me any information about the ancestors/descendants.

It is my ultimate aim to have a worldwide family tree for all people of the BESLEY name. I would appreciate any family tree information from anyone in the world who shares this same name within their families as I hope to make connections with them all.

If anyone wishes to send me information, either a Gedcom or a file attached to an email would be very welcome. I would be quite happy to send anyone who requests it all the information I have in return. I run Legacy 6 as a genealogy programme on my computer.

Thanks for your assistance, everyone. .
In 1880 census he is living in Mount Carmel IL with Wife Alice A. and children Liam (sp?) female aged 2 and son William W. aged 3 months. Trying to find out if this William W. could be my "missing" gg grandfather. William H Besley b. 1833 is found in 1900 living with wife Alice, son Earl B. and daughter Lillian in Hamilton County TN. They are in Chattanooga TN in 1910. Believe William W. Besley married my gg grandmother Lillie Forrester/Sheehan abt 1896 or 1897 but may have died before 1900. Any information on this family would be appreciated.

Hi Robin,

I think we may be the only descendants in England, but cant be certain. My great grandfather was French Canadian and came to England in the 1st world war - I believe he was part of the American Army. My greatgrandmother moved back to Canada with him, they had one child, but the marriage did not work out, so she returned to England, with his name.

I am going to try to add an attachment with our family tree. The branch on the left hand side is the Canadian branch my uncle is still in contact with. On the right hand side is the English branch.

Let me know if you see any familiar names.

Where are you from in Canada?

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I was not aware that there were still english descendants. I knew that we had lost track of some of Rene's children at about the time some of the french canadians moved to the states during the end of the 1800's.

I am also a descendant of Rene and just moved recently to the states. Can you tell me which of Rene's children you descend from?

RB

Hi,
My great x 6 grandfather was René Le Besley from Quebec.
I am part of the English branch of the family, which is quite rare. The name was transformed from Belley to Bellay, which was my mother's maiden name.
I have been able to trace René Le Besley's ancestors in France (this is where I live and I went to Poilley, where he came from). I have some web sites for info about the Belleys in Quebec.
Happy to tell you more, let me know if you get this message.
sarahford@club-internet.fr

Frederick Besley, Camberwell/Hove, England

I am searching for any information regarding the Besley family who are related to me. This is what I have so far:-
Frederick Besley married Ellen ? - 6 known children Frederick, Ellen, Charles Robert, Edward, Ann Huntley and Arthur all born in Camberwell, London between 1836 and 1843. Ann Huntley Besley married Col. Henry Wallace Stroud in 1865 and had 11 children (Beatrice, Ellen, Henry, Herbert, Florence, Evelyn, Edith, Edward, John, Samuel and Mary-Ethel). Charles Robert Besley married Emily Gordon in 1866 and they had at least two children (Muriel and Robert). Edward Besley married Maria Fillingham Cuming in 1864 (no children yet found). It would appear that Frederick Besley Jnr married someone called Ellen and had two sons (Herbert and Ernest) born in Brighton, England in 1861 and 1864. Any info on any of these relatives would be very gratefully received. I am particularly interested in the wives of Frederick Besley Jnr and Snr. Anyone know who they were or any specific dates? Where did Frederick Besley Snr originate? Is he connected with the Somerset Besleys? HELP.

We are trying to find a John Besley who married a Sarah Harding in Exeter on 4 September 1836 at Exeter St Mary Major. Sarah died (perhaps) leaving two daughters - Sarah and Rebecca - and John then married a Louisa ?? who gave birth to another Louisa who is the person we seek as our Great grandmother. John was in the British army according to his witness occupation at his daughter's wedding.
Any possible linkage?

Brian...I have December 20, 1784 for date of birth for Bartholomew and his twin sister Elizabeth and 1838 as the year of his death. His son Isaac (my great great grandfather) and wife Eliza Ann Lamoreaux had a son Feb 3, of the same year and he named the son after his father. I believe the Bartholomew and Sarah had a daughter named Althea who married William Corwin of New Jersey. I do not know her date or birth or marriage but believe she died December 23, 1846. I am seeking verification of that and information about other vital dates and any other possible siblings.

BYW...I have forwarded your email to my entire family...they are impressed with your knowledge and thank you for sharing..
