Old post but there is no source for a John Bettis b/ 1700
who was the father to Francis Bettis of Edgefield, SC.If you have a Source please share. A Book could be a Source, but the book must have a Source

MS. Kerrigan tell us that John was b/ 1708 Thomas Betts b/ 1676 and Alice Byrd And Thomas Father William Betts b/ 1650

The problem here is that John could have be born by 1697
and came to American but his fisrt child could not be born bef 1718 if John was 21. There is no question that Francis was born by 1712 as Francis was buying land by 1733. So the time line is simple incorrect......................
