I have found the name of Elijah's first wife, whom he married in Albemarle County VA. She must have died before they had children, and then he married __________Ensient. I also have information that has many Bettis descendants mislead as to who the parents of Alford/Alfred Bettis were. They were NOT of Wyatt Bettis, son of James Bettis. James Bettis was a brother of Francis Bettis, their parents being John Bettis Sr. and Mary Doser/Dozier. Alford/Alfred's parents were MatthewBettis and Winnefred Lott #1. I believe Matthew was a polygamist, and was married to the two Winnefred's at the same time, because their childrens' years of birth are interspersed. And one Winnifred died in 1873 and the other one died in 1873 or early 1784. It is very odd indeed.
