Looking for information on above John Bettner. It appears he was a farm laborer in the Bement, IL area when he married Fannie Busick. They had a child, Virgil Bettner in 1871 but after that John disappeared. Fannie filed for divorce in 1887. I have no info on his parents or siblings or what happened to him later.

I have some information for you through a strange turn of events but I think you will be interested for your family history. It is personal and I do not wish to publish here. I understand that Henry is a war hero who sacrificed his life and from what I have learned about him, he was a remarkable person who your family no doubt is proud of. Please email me at valerie anderson 468 at hotmail dot com (close up and add the @ and . )and I will forward via email if you wish. This is my alias email so I do not receive spam. I will contact you back with my real email information.
Do you know if your dad's cousin was ever posted to the RAF base in Lossiemouth, Morayshire Scotland?

Darlene,
Thank you for the info, actually I already have a copy of that census and it seems to be a dead end. I have found other information to contradict the Blythes being the parents of William, I believe they may have been foster parents. William's father was from Germany, however I have no other information on him other then that. I'm in the process of trying to get a marriage license for William when he married my great grandmother Ruth Shannon. If I come across anything that comes close to your Bettner's I'll let you know.

I'm looking for information on my great grandfather's ancestors. His name was William Bettner born in Delaware around 1895 and married Ruth Shannon and lived in Chester, PA. He had 2 brothers, Edward and Walter from what I am told. Anyone that can offer information on this family would be appreciated. I don't have much to go on other then the names of Williams brothers and their wives names. Thanks in advance.

Dear Joe,
I am Ruth's daughter..and grandchild of Richard Benjamin Bettner..
I lost touch with Charles (your uncle) after Anne died..and mother died a few years ago. I never got to meet your father Samuel.
I would love to get an update on Charles..
I did not know that our grandfather ended up in Chicago..we have been trying to get some information since before mother died. She died at 91!
This was an unresolved issue with her since her father disappeared at age 6.
Minnie and Richard Benjamin were married at Christ Episcopal Church in Mobile..the church usually kept good records..he was also confirmed there..I have those dates plus some certificates.Might be a starting point for some research into what happened to him...
Our parents were also baptized there..and my mother confirmed and married there. She married The Rev. Granville Gladstone Rogers.
The priest that married them and remarried our grandmother, we don't think he would have remarried her if he didn't know that either Richard had died or the divorce was long passed, per my mother. My mother said they had a close friendship and she thinks he knew his whereabouts all the time. Of course in those days it was taboo to ask questions and my mother said our grandmother would not talk about it with her and she was the oldest child!
I don't know if Aunt Barbara has any papers in our grandmothers things that might relate to this issue!
I would be happy to talk to you..I live in Jacksonville, FL. Did we meet at Aunt Ann's funeral?
Thank you for responding to my message on geneology..It was placed there a long...time ago!
Looking forward to hearing from you again!
I do have a sister Elizabeth Anne Shands in Gainesville FL and a sister Ruth Lucille McKey in Miami, FL . Our brother Granville Gladstone Rogers died at age 22, 40 years ago!
And I am Marian Knight Rogers Crosby.
Thanks again,
Marian (Mimi)

I've been working on my family tree. My mother sent me Hazel Bittner's obituary. I was sorry to hear that she had passed on. I was hoping you could send me any information you have regarding the Sedoris Bettner family. Sedore was my mother's first cousin. I have also been trying to research information regarding another cousin Robert Horton who was killed at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. I do have some information on him and his death, but not on when and where he was born.
