I am researching the Bitz family. They later spelled their name Beets. My gggg grandfather was George Bitz (also spelled Beats and finally Beets). George was born probably in Pennsylvania around 1740. He married Maria Eva Meister around 1767 and had 7 children in Northampton Co., Pennsylvania before leaving for Cumberland Co., PA in 1784. He then moved to Virginia, then to Tennessee where he died around 1807. Many Beets family members trace their lineage to him.
