Can you give me any details about Laura's death (where and when). I haven't been successful in turning up anything about her. I do know she was married to Bud McArthur before she married Richard. She divorced Richard McCranie in the early 1950s and later married Billy Mills Yow who is buried in the family plot at the Mizpah cemetery near Athens.

Calvin E was my GG grandfather (1935-1905) and was the father of
James Robert (1874-1954) who was the father of
James Louis (1899-1979) who was the father of
Anna Laura (abt 1927-) who was my mother.

I was adopted by James Louis and Mattie Pearl Beavers at birth. As a matter of fact, my birth certificate show I was born Douglas McArthur Beavers but it is plain to see that the Birth Certificate was altered before it was recorded. I only have Laura's word for the fact that she was my mother.

Laura was born about 1927 although she doesn't show up in the 1930 census. I'm still trying to get more information about her.

I don't have exact dates, but I do know that Clara is still living. Laura died about 5 years ago (?) ish? I was raised by my paternal Grandparents ... so that is why I don't have much information on my maternal family. And I have no clue as to their parents. Hi, I'm wondering if this family line is connected to Laura and Clara ... Their maiden names were Bevers (or Beavers?) Laura is my maternal Grandmother and Clara is her sister. Also just retired from her Daycare center of many, many years here in Athens. :-) I'm trying to track back with Laura's family tree. She had two children with her first husband, (a McCranie) Miracle and David(?).

Zora Marie Bevers married Harry C Boone in 1916. After their divorce she married A J Lentz. Zora was born 04 Oct 1895 and died 28 Mar 1955. She is buried at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston, Harris Co., TX.

Larry, I am not familiar with your Bevers names. I have found several Spencer Bevers. My Martha Bell (Mattie) McClure married John William Spencer Bevers in 1891 in Texas.

I am not familiar with the names Emma Barbee BEVERS nor Captola Pauline. My BEVERS line came to Texas from Tennessee and settled in Jack, Fannin and Hall Counties. In my research I have come across the name Spencer DeKalb Bevers/Beavers and find there are 2 men with same name.

I came across your message board and was intrigued to find my great grandfather's name, Spencer D.Bevers. According to my information, he was born in Raines county, Tx, Nov 2, 1883. He married my great grandmother, Emma Lavara Barbee, Jan 1, 1906. I am hoping to hear from you soon, as we may be related. He was the son of William Spencer Bevers and Savannah Hughes.

Spencer Bevers (1770; VA - 1848; TN) is the son of Thomas Beavers (1742; Hunterdon Co, NJ - 1804; Wilson Co, TN) and Nancy Henderson.

Thomas was the son of Thomas (1718; Ireland - 1770; Loudoun Co, VA) and Martha (?).

The elder Thomas was the son of John Beavers (1695; Ireland - 1762; Hunterdon Co, NJ).

John immigrated to NJ around 1740. I am in contact with numerous researchers who descend from John.

Wynnewood Youth Dies in Accident

Driver of Car Hurt Critically in Wreck

WYNNEWOOD, June 15.- (Special)- Alton Bevers, 19 years old, of the
Liberty community five miles northof here, died in the Wynnewood
hospital Monday afternoon of injuries he received when the car in
which he was riding hit a ditch eight miles south of here Sunday
night.

Lloyd Brown, Paoli, driver of the car, was in critical condition,
hospital attendants said, and Harold Campbell, Pauls Valley, suffered
minor facial cuts. All three youths apparently were thrown through
the windshield as the automobile went out of control on highway 77.

Alton attended Wynnewodd highschool and was a member of the basketball
team last winter. He was the son of Fred Bevers of the Liberty
community.

A little over a year ago his cousin, Claud Bevers, Brady, was killed
in an automobile accident, eight miles west of here.

DNA testing has confirmed that Johnson Bevers of the 1820 Madison Co, GA Census is indeed the father of James M. Bevers (b. 1804). Furthermore, this same DNA evidence proves that Johnson Bevers is the son of William Beavers of Caswell Co, NC.

Robert “Bob” Lee Bevers, 63, a resident of Aztec since 1980, passed from this life peacefully early Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, with his family by his side. Bob was born Jan. 20, 1942, in Carlsbad, the son of John and Nellie (Strawn) Bevers. Bob was employed with the Farmington Schools as a transportation director.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kim Bevers, of Aztec; sons, Robert L. My dad's mother was a "Bevers" from Grimsby. Her father was George Bevers (1862 - ?) and his father Joseph Bevers (1823 - 1892) and his father Joseph Bevers (? - ?) all of Grimsby. There were some large families! Let's see if we can link up!

James married and lived in Clarke Co, GA, which is right next to Madison County, so I am exploring the possibility that Johnson is the father of James M. BEVERS.

My Bevers family has been in Georgia for at least 170 years. My ggg grandfather, James M. BE(A)VERS, was reportedly born in Virginia around 1804. James is recorded as marrying Elizabeth GILL in 1836, and they go on to have a few children. My gg grandfather, Calvin E. BEVERS, served in the War. Calvin has several descendants, many of whom remain in GA. I know very little about the early life of James M. BEVERS, so he may have come to GA as a child with his parents. On the other hand, he may have come on his own as a young man. Before settling in Clarke Co, GA, James may have come through the Carolinas or Tennessee. Unfortunately, I have very little to show for his early years. However, I have not given up hope for finding the ancestors and siblings of James. I have recently joined the BEAVERS DNA Surname Project, which scientifically proves or disproves my family relationship with any other man with the last name BE(A)VERS. My test results are in, and it turns out that my BEVERS line comes from Viking ancestry. As such, any other test participant will automatically know whether or not our families are related. As such, I encourage you to find a male BEVERS relative to join this study so that we may connect our families "Proof Positive". Let me know if you have any questions.
