Donna - In reply to your message concerning the Bibbins/Bevins descendants of Arthur Bevan of Martha's Vineyard; Arthur had 3 sons and 9 daughters, and moved to Glastonbury CT in 1694 where he died in 1697. Son John 1676-1764 settled in Middletown CT and his descendants mostly spelled their name Bevin. Son Thomas 1682-1752 also settled in the Middletown area and his family mostly used Bevins. Son Arthur 1686-1788 settled in Windham CT and his descendants used Bibbins. I have extensive files on the subsequent Bibbins lines and some info on the sons of John and Thomas. I'd be happy to discuss exchanging applicable info. As you know there were many other Bevins by various spellings who immigrated here. However, I can find only 2 examples of Bibbins' doing so - 2 brothers who came from England around 1860. The first Arthur's heritage is open to debate. Some unconfirmed stories have him emigrating from England or Wales although there are serious weaknesses in this belief. Regards, Charlie Bibbins
