I am looking for anyone researching the Brass or Bew families from Stromness, Orkney, Scotland. My connection is my 4th grandparents Peter Brass who married Margaret Bews on 8 Nov 1832 in Stromness, Orkney. They came to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in abt 1871.
Their children - all born in Stromness, Orkney were:
Mary Brass b 6 Sep 1833
Peter Brass b 25 May 1835
James Brass b 11 Aug 1842
Banjaman Brass b 21 Jun 1842
Margaret Brass b Jun 1845
John Brass b Aug 1847
Annie Young Brass b 2 Sep 1849 who married Gordon D Traill

Gordon D Traill was from Aberdeen, Scotland
Gordon's father was Allan Traill

In microfilmed records dated 1867 - 1890 of the McClure Avenue Presbyterian Church, of the City of Allegheny, now Pittsburgh, PA, Allegheny county, also known as The Valley Church of McClure Twp., there is mentioned a
Miss Laura BEW, her baptismal date is March 4, 1877.
I don't recall any other mention of BEW.
I have no more info as it is not my line.
