In my first post I indicated that Georges Bibaud was the son of Frederic Bibaud and Louise Cote. In going back and scrutinizing the French handwriting, I believe I read Fredeic when it most likely is Michel Bibaud and Louise Cote and they were married in 1842 while Moise Martel and Marie Cote were married in 1840

I am not sure if these people are your ancestors but I found a marriage of Georges Bibaud and Zoe Martel, dated 5 April 1869 in St Frederic, Drummondville, Quebec, Canada. The marriage record indicates that Georges was the son of deceased Frederic Bibaud and Louise Cote and Zoe Martel the daughter of Moise Martel and Marie Cote.

George Bibeau - Zoe Martelle (Quebec-Connecticut)

I’ve hit a dead end in tracking my gggrandparents George Bibeau (born 1845) and his spouse Zoe Martelle (born 1849). The Canadian census of 1881 shows them living in Quebec (Drummond and Arthabaska District; Simpson and Wendover Subdistrict) with their three children Joseph (1873), Arthur (1879), and my great grandmother Leona (1881). Subsequently, they had three additional children Emma (1882), Philip (1885), and Angelina (1893).

The family immigrated to Norwich, Connecticut in 1897, where all eight appear in the US Census of 1900.

I’ve exhausted all the options I know of to find additional information on the family.

I would be grateful for any information on the parents of George Bibeau (born 1845) and his spouse Zoe Martelle (born 1849), who lived in Quebec and immigrated to the USA in 1897. Thank you, -Regis Chapman

Sorry about that. I do need to go in and add that info to each post. I do know they were from the North East US. I am thinking more around the Manhattan NY area, but not necesaraly right from there. Could be out lying areas. I do know that the female Considine was with out a doubt in Manhattan from July 17 1966 to Sept 16 1966 and then again on Oct 31 1966. I am almost certian they were from that area somewhere. But like I said it could be anywhere in the north east US.

Thanks for any help or guidance you could give.

Hi Barbara, I don't have information about Fred Authier, but I remember having seen the name Fred Authier (or ALFRED) in ST-HILAIRE, Qc, Cda. Maybe he is related with Philippe Authier who married Léa Blain, I'm not sure; but, you will find a lot of Authiers in St-Hilaire and/or Beloeil's parish registers, Qc, Cda.

You could search in BLUE DROUIN books (men and women)
in Bibeau or Bibeault (index), and you will surely find something interesting for you about the Authier you are looking for. Then, you'll have the marriage's date and where they married; and the parents of Fred (ALFRED) Authier and those of his spouse.

Good luck in your research

steno777777@yahoo.ca

We called her Edna. She did not like Anne Alice and asked friends to call her Edna. Edna died in Two Rivers WI in 1987 she had a son Gerald Clyde Patrow and a daugher Proutess Patrow. Her husband at that time was Erwin or Ervin Patrow. They divorced and she later married Raymond Handy her son Gerald changed his name to Gerald Clyde Handy in 1942. Edna's last husband was Al Blandin. I think he passed away in Green Bay, WI.

Gerald married Ruth Kuether of Two Rivers, WI and had 3 children Daniel Rober Handy (my husband), Cory Handy, and Debbie Handy.

I met her sister Ida Bibeau in the early 70's (lived in Manitowac, WI and died in Green Bay, WI.

I've been trying to find out what Edna's first husband last name and first name might be as I'm not sure I've spelled his name correctly.

If anyone knows I sure would appreciate the help.

Thank you,
Years ago my father Urbain Rainville of Woonsocket, RI and my mother Laurette Adam of Manville, RI., use to take my brother and I to Southbridge or Sturbridge Ma. To visit my Uncle Henri Bibeau and his two Sons.
It's been years and I have not heard anything about them. I am doing my family tree and I don't have any clue if their related to My Grandfather Romeo Rainville or
Grandmother Marie-Louise Cormier. My grandparents were from Quebec and died in Woonsocket.
Thank you for the quick reply. I have been stuck on this one for quite some time. Does this expert in Bibeau genealogy have a website or an email address that I can get in touch with him or her? I have a photo of a John Bebeau. I am not sure how he fits in. He looks like a Civil War soldier but I am not sure. On the back is scrawled John Bebeau walked a hundred miles in this picture, which is a typical postcard message back then. I would like to know how he fits in to my family.

I just found some information, I'm not sure if it will be of any help. This might get a little confusing because of the last names being the same, Bibeault/Bibeau.

My grandmother (Estelle Authier) who was born (July 17, 1896) in No. Grosvenordale, CT, was the child of Fred Authier and Jeannette Bibeault. I don't know where Fred or Jeannette were born, however, Estelle later married Zephir Bibeau (no relation).

I do know there was a cousin named Gene (?Eugene) Bibeault also on that side of the family.

Hope this helps.

Hi Carol: The family name you are looking for is Billeau also known as Billot. It appears that either the name was written in the early records wrong by the priest as Bibeau or that the transcribers have made the mistake.

Does anyone have information concerning Amelia Bibeau who married George Brodeur in 1886 in Southbridge, MA. I am trying to verify if they are the Brodeurs listed on the 1900 Census which records them as living in Lawrence, MA. Ameilia, born Nov 1863, was 36, and her husband, George , born Sept 1861, was 38. Their daughter, Rosana, born Nov 1886, was 11 years old at that time. In 1900 they had been married 15 years. According to the 1920 Census they were residing in Amesbury, MA. I am trying to correlate if that George Brodeur is the same person as my Great Uncle who was born to Joseph and Sophie (Phanuef) Brodeur on 25 Sept 1862 in St. Charles, Quebec. I would be very grateful for any information anyone could give me concerning this family. .

The majority of my/her ancestors were born and married in Ste, Croix, St Flavien and St Antoine de Tilly, Lotbiniere, PQ.

The PQ is a shortened version of Province of Quebec and Canada is supposed to be understood.

There is a St Aime de Lacs in Charlevoix County, Quebec, Canada which split off from St Agnes in 1942. This area is North and West of Quebec city.

I am not an expert on Bibeau's but several in my family have told me that their ancestors changed the spelling to get it pronouced correctly in the US by the anglophones (those people who do not speak French). This has resulted in many different spellings to Bibo, Bebo, Bibeault. Plus the spelling was largely spelled the way it was pronounced in different parts of Canada and the US. So almost any spelling of that sounds like Bibeault/Bibeau/Bebo will probably fit.

You stated that you are trying to trace your father;'s ancestors and start with with your grandfather's name.

It would be helpful to include the Man's name and the wife's maiden name and the date of the marriage, and location if known. In Canada a woman usually maintains her maiden surname in official documents, e.g. marriage records, baptismal records, burial records even if she was married.
