My name is Robert Cordell. I am related to Stephanie Biber (great grandson) who lived at 173 Clara St. in San Francisco. Her brother Captain Edward Cordell has a national marine sanctuary named after him, and worked for the U.S. Costal Survey. There is an unpublished book about him (search on Cordell Expeditions).

Stephanie had 3 sons Adolph, Edward, and Theodore. My grandfather was Theodore. The sons or Stephanie changed their last names to Cordell (at least Edward and Theodore)from Biber. Robert Schmieder's book "The Ecology of an Underwater Island" talks about Edward Cordell. I have a picture of my grandfather and his brother Edward. Edward Cordell, the Sea Captain, had his funeral at at Adolph Biber's house on 173 Clara St. in S.F on Jan 27, 1870. I will forward a scan of his obituary.
