John Cooke Swearingen referenced his mothers bible (Asenath Parker Swearingen)in his Civil War pension papers (1913). A copy of the bible page "in which all records have been kept with date of births....1747 up to and including my own .."
"The above refers to my father and mother... father Joseph C Swearingen b Apr 30 1808 mother Asenath daughter of Ann & Hiram Parker b Aug 10th 1815."
