Surnames: Bice, Burgess, Davison, Ponzoo, Fagan.
I am a Bice. George and Eleanor (Burgess) Bice are my GG Grandparents. Their daughter, Sarah Catherine) married my G Grandfather George Albert Davison.

All were living in Greene County, PA, at that time. My George is listed as Black, Mulatto and white. When he died in 1899, he was listed as white in the County Death Registry.

In Caldwell's Atlas, Greene County, PA, 1876, there is a George Bice with a settlement date of 1816. My George was said to have been born about 1821, I am not sure if these two George Bice are the same, or if the elder George could be my George's father.

George and Eleanor's children married: Ponzoo and Fagan and others. It seems that my Bice may have passed for white at some time. The same for Eleanor's Burgess line.

Please let me know if you may have additional information.

A colored George Bice in 1866 is quite interesting.

Bill
