I have re-read my response to your message, and it doesn't make any sense. I don't have any of the other children's names or any history for any of them. William Bice of Georgia is supposed to be Noah Jackson Bice's father. There are several Bice/Buice men who moved from Georgia to Tallapoosa, Coosa, and Elmore counties in AL. I read back over the data that Mary Columbine Bice Livingston sent me, and she states that the four men are brothers. How did you connect these four men to the Family Buijs? I have a gap that haven't been able to bridge, and would be most appreciative if you could help me. Pat Miller

Asa G Buis, Bice

For everyone that is using Asa Asberry (Asbury) Bice as the husband of Mary Nix McWhorter and the father of William Henry, Elizabeth Nancy, Nancy Jane, Terelsta E, Martha, Cicero, Asa C Bice, I wish you would correct it to Asa G Buise as that was the man's name. A Michael Bice of Cullman Co, AL has listed the name as Asberry (Asbury) but there is no proof anywhere of this and people have taken it blindly as the way it is. His civil war records all list his middle initial as G. His widow, Mary Nix McWhorter, listed his middle initial as G in her widow's pension application. His grandsons, my father and uncles, all had middle names that started with the letter G in his honor. Please do the research before continuing to spread incorrect information. Thanks for your help in stopping this misinformation

All that I know about Noah's father was that his name was William Nathan Bice and he died in Carroll Co., GA. Noah J. (more often called Jackson) moved to Alabama from Georgia, as did Nathan Bice, William Bice, Asa Bice, and James Bice. I have never entered any of this into my family tree because I can't document any of it. This is the short way to say, "I don't have those children's names."

Sorry, No Leander. I looked at all of the children that I have noted for the five Bice men who came to Alabama at about the same time (1840's & '50's).

He married Carrie Jett (Bn 23 Sept 1889) in 1905 in Harrison County. They can be found in the Clay District of Harrison County in the 1910 Census and in Eastland County, Texas in 1920. In 1930 they are in Borger of Hutchinson County, Texas. I would like to know when and where they passed away. Neither shows up in the SSDI nor the Texas Death Index. Harry and Carrie had a son George Thomas Bice in 1912 in Harrison County. George married Hazel Ellen Starkey in 1929 and they were with Harry in 1930. Son George passed away in February of 1965 per the SSDI. No residence or last address was given. Hazel passed away in March of 1986 in Cimarron, Gray County, Kansas. So does anyone know where Harry and Carrie wound up, when and where they passed away as well as their son George Thomas...at least where was he when he passed away?

Thanks,
Mark

BICE in AL, GA, SC ...
Hello, I'm looking for info on a Hannah Bice (married name I think) b. 1809 SC or 1820 depending on which census. She is living with her daughter in 1880 (Chilton Co. AL) and 1870 (Shelby Co. AL) FCs. Daughter is Martha S. E. Bice (b. 1852 GA), married Thomas Livingston Johnson (b. 1846 GA).

In 1870, also have living with them, Terrell Bice (B. 1847 GA) and Jonathan Bice (b. 1849 SC) and John Pugh, boarder (b. 1837 SC). There is no indication of relationships on 1870 FC :(... I wonder if the John Pugh was a neighbor/relative in SC and moved west with them?

Lots of Census searching has turned up no Hannahs the right age. As has been discussed on here before, there are some Terrells in St. Clair Co. AL in 1860 and one is the right age, right birth state (Son of Nathan).

It was mentioned here that the 3 Bice families in St. Clair Co. were brothers and moved on west. Does anyone have any info that they left any folks behind in AL? Terrell? Or someone who married Hannah and died or left to go west or something? Nathan's wife Mary is close to the right age for Hannah... any evidence she could be called Hannah and Nathan went west w/o her?

I pulled all the Bices in GA in 1950 and did find a Terrell the right age in Cass Co., but said born in SC, not GA. He was in a family with no adult men, Sarah was head, Rhonda appeared to possibly be the mother.

Thoughts? I'm running out of ideas!

Thanks.

Derric
It appears that everyone is talking about Elisha Buis (however u want to spell it), son of David Buis, Spartanburg SC. He married Elizabeth Ireland. From census records, I have his birthdate abt 1824, not 1809. Would seem more realistic with the 1909 death date as most men did not live that long due to the type work they did. I have their children as:
James, married a Mary R. ?.
William, no further info (from the thread, married Mary Jane Henderson).
Sara(h) Elizabeth, married Joseph McGowin.
Noah J., married Ora ? (this is not Noah Jackson Bice b.1820 and moving to Tallapoosa Co, AL).
Jonathan, no further info.
Reuben, married Arelia Henderson.
Isaac, no further info.
Jefferson, died in AZ.
Catharine Bice

I found a Catharine Bice in Western Division, Tallapoosa Co, AL, in the 1860 Census. Children are: Jane, Elisha, John, Arrany, Noah, Nancy and James. Ink smudge covers Catharine's age but the oldest daughter, Jane, appears to be 12 years old. Census states Catharine was born in Georgia. Any help appreciated.

Hi Rhonda, Stan again. Just went to that tree you referenced in your post. I have never seen so much incorrect information in once place in my life!

The William Boyce that was Johannes Jr's son did marry an Elizabeth, but NO ONE has ever found documentation that her last name was Snyder. There was a book about the Ascrafts that had this info, but no documentation. Kinda like one of those urban myths or "Suzy has cancer" emails. No one knows where it started, but it just keeps going.

I cannot find anything that has a Robert Boice as a son of William and Elizabeth, although there may be one somewhere. Right now, I would discount it.

It looks like a bunch of different trees were combined into one massive misinformation block. I see that some of my research made it into the tree, ie, Asa G Buise, killed in Burkittsville, MD during civil war and they left out one of his children. His father William was actually born circa 1794, some records state PA and some SC and they only listed three of his children.

If you look to the right on every page, it states "Historical Records, XXX user submitted trees." which to me means that if it looked close it was thrown in as the truth.

I would maybe use this to get a name to research, but that would be about it. It looks as if the page you reference has been changed to reflect "Asa G" instead of "Asa Asberry" so that is good at least.

Stan

Hi Rhonda, This is what I think, although others may disagree. Johannes Buys is credited with six children, Johannes Jr, Hannah, Nicholas, William, Francis and Abraham. Concentrating on Johannes Jr and William; I believe that William Buys/Buis/Buice is the William that migrated from Berks Co, PA to Spartanburgh SC with his wife Sarah. "(Berk's Co, PA)In 1749, he served as the administrator of the estate of Thomas Sterling (sister Hannah's husband), signing the papers with his "mark". He was named on the tax list in 1767 Berk's Co, PA as William Boice with 200 acres, 5 horses, 3 cattle, 5 sheep. He was also known as Willem Buys and William Buis. Berks County Deed Book 7, Page 459, refers to William Buis, late of Hunterdon, West New Jersey. Berks County Deed Book 7, page 461, records a transfer of land between William Buis and wife Sarah to Samuel Bonsell."
(Items in parenthsis are from the book "The Dutch Buys, Boys, Buis, Bice, Bise, Boise, Boice, Boyce in America" by Shirley Boyce Wagner and K. W. Bailey). Since I have found no other William and/or Sarah anywhere else, it is logical to presume they migrated to SC as there are no records after 1780 that I can find.

William's brother, Johannes jr, had a son named William Boyce/Buise/etc, from his presumably first wife who is so far, nameless, and he is named in father's will. His son, Samuel Boyce, is the patriarch of those who went to West Virginia. His son Samuel married Mary Stines/Stimes and their children are: John F, Clementine Elizabeth, William M, Mary "Polly", Katherine, Samuel, Francis "Frank", Henry, Michael, Isaac. These are the ones that began the WV branch. At least that is what I have surmised over the years. Hope this helps. Stan
