Bickell line. I am Terry Beth Bickell Barnes. From a 1900 census report, I see my Bickell line came from England via Quebec to the US.

My father was Bill Alexander Bickell (1925-1970, born and died in Kansas City, MO).

His father was Edward Thomas Bickell (1888-1958, born and died in Kansas City, MO).

His father was Charles Alexandre Bickell (1850-1925, born in Quebec, died in KCMO). Brother possibly Thomas Hobbs Bickell (b. Quebec, 1841), wife Isabella and children: Cliff, Edith and William all born in Quebec. Charles may have had a sister named Ann or Alice.

I believe Charles' father was Thomas Bickell (born in England) and his mother was Ann Elizabeth Hobbs (born in England, possibly Canada). I also think he had brothers named William, Edmund and Joseph - all born in Quebec.

Would any of these names fit into any of your research on the Bickell clan?

Terry
terrybarnes_stagemanager@hotmail.com

Hi,
Was your mother born in 1930 or 1933? SSDI has 1933. You probably know that in 1930, William & Iva and Calvin were in the Meriden area for the federal census. Was your mother formally adopted or did she just take the name Bickell?

Gene Dixon

I am not sure if my cousins father's family are related or not, but if they are it could be why you are having trouble locating them. I just found the information on my uncle's & his twin brother's births in Washburn Co., WI. Floyd & Loyd were born 6/25/1907. My sister thought there might have been a younger sister who had died there, but we were not sure. The Bickell's moved on to Minnesota and later out to Oregon. I know at least most of their immediate family must have come as I remember hearing about them. I only met a few, but that was when I was very young. I think they were in the 1930 census here in Oregon. I believe they do still have family back that way and my cousins brother went back there I think last summer to meet some of them he had only written to over the years. I do not know what names, but will check with them. I gave my cousin Andrea Patterson's e-mail address as I had seen it on another page and had contacted her myself. If you would like to, get in contact with me and I will see what I can find out.

If you would like to give me a ring, please do - despite tha lack of contact after his passing, I am sure someone must have the number squirrelled away somewhere. To be honest though, I think I realise now why grandad never spoke about his family all that much. Sleeping dogs and all that jazz.

I have looked at this bickell board many times, and somehow passed over this and can't beleive that I did!! And I can't beleive that I just found some family!!! My grandfather was Albert Raymond Bickell, brother of Rollin and Harvey and the other sibliings, son of Elton Earl and Temple Bickell. Albert married my g'ma, Gladys Marie Doyle while he was in the military in Texas. They had two daughters, Gladys Rae Bickell born 10-04-1945 and Pamela Sue Bickell born 09-03-1947, my mother is Pamela. My G'ma re-married Ace Phillips and he adopted my mother and aunt. My G'ma heard that Albert re-married and had other children. I found Albert's death notice on ancestry.com - died Sept 1980. Please contact me at vstar072572@aol.com.

Mary Bickell/Bickle

I am seeking information on Mary Bickell/Bickle. She was born in England in 1808 and married Samuel Bridge (born in England, 1798) in Garland, Penebscot, Maine in 1832. They moved to Oshkosh, WI in the 1840s with their four children: Albina, Sarah, James Louis, and George Wellington (later killed at the battle of Antietam). She died in Oshkosh in 1878 an impoverished widow.

I am trying to figure out possible parentage for Mary, and where in England she was born. There is a Richard Bickell living in Garland in the 1830s; could this be her father or brother? I'm not sure if she immigrated to Canada and then came south to Maine, or if she came straight to the U.S. from England. If this family looks familiar to anyone, I would appreciate it if you could contact me on or off the list. Thanks.

Hello from Alaska...

I'm seeking information about Alyce Bickell who is known to have resided in Oregon in 1937. She was a first cousin of William Bickell, formerly of Minneapolis, Minnesota, who relocated in the early 1930s to Republic and Grand Coulee, Washington.
