The information I have on my great grandmother is as follows:
Born, according to her death certificate February, 1867: parents unknown, place of birth is unknown, She was married to Lindsey Gilbert Asher November 26, 1885 in Butler County, Missouri' (Butler County Marriage License) She died February 15, 1915 in Ripley County, Missouri and is buried in the Palatka Cemetary (Black's Cemetary) Clay County, Arkansas. She and her first husband, Lindsey Gilbert Asher had the following children:
THomas Edward Asher 1886
James Jackson Asher 1889
Dave Crockett Asher 1891
Delia Ahser 1893 (my grandmother)
John Franklin Asher 1896
May Ahser 1898
Freddie Asher no date
Gilbert Asher 1903
Elvena Pope born of her second marriage to R.V. Pope
When she died, Her second husband, Mr. Pope returned her to arkansas and buried her in the cemetary where Lindsey Gilbert Asher is buried, who died in 1902. Mr. Pope then took their daughter and moved to Kansas. I lost track of them in Kansas. But I remember my grandmother saying she had a half sister in California.
I also have an Aunt who remembers a discussion about an orphan train;;;; i wonder if there is a possibility that the kids got split up and sent out on one, i know they went through Missouri during that time.
Louisa (Lula)'s brother was Andrew Jackson Biggers; in the 1880 census he is 10 years old and is listed as an apprentice farmer with Jacob and Margaret Lehrmann; Jacob later dies and Margaret Lehrmann marries Thomas S.C. Asher, who is Louisa's father-in-law and Lindsey Gilbert Asher's father. Since Andrew is underage, Thomas and Margaret sign as Guardians for him to marry Louisa McKinney. I know that he married again and his buried in Barnett Cemetary in Pocahontas, Arkansas and his great grandson Mike has much more information on Andrew than I do.
Additionally, in our old records, some from Veda Asher in Missouri she states that Rosa Bickers their sister married an Elvis Hopkins; and that Frasier married a woman named Mary and went to Tennessee; the persistent rumor is that the parents died in a cholera epidemic; I cannot confirm this as of yet. I have found 2 Elvis Hopkins in the SSDI. I read the information on Frazier Morris civil war record, at 36 and he died in 1865 due to his wounds in the 9th infantry of Illinois; his wife Rebecca remarried in 1866; That does not match with the information that he married a "Mary" however, this could be his second wife,
let me know what you think;
