William Bickford,wife Elizabeth Smith-she died about 1818

Surnames: Bickford, Ashby
I have William Bickford,Sr. who was a Commander of a vessel and made trips to the East Indies.
The 1st wife, Elizabeth Smith had 3 children-William(Nov 11, 1814-1881); Sumner M(Jun 3 1817-1894) and a daughter-yet unknown. Eliz Smith died about 1818 and her husband re-married and that wife was not kind to his children. The 2nd wife had 5 children with William Bickford,Sr. He died age 88.
The brothers-William and Sumner came to Iowa and both died in Jefferson co, but are buried in Washington co., IOWA.
William married to Elizabeth Ashby in Iowa. Don't have marriage for Sumner.
Does anyone have any connections to this line or know more.
