Robert Joseph Bickhart

I am searching for Robert Bickharts parents. I know he was born March 5 1887 and died Feb 1965. According to his WW1 and 2 draft cards he was born in Denver PA and he died in Reading PA i think. I have a 1920 and 1930 census on him but can't find a 1910 or 1900. He married Olive Klink b. September 1887. Any info anyone has on his parents would be greatly appriciated, Thankyou

Sister of Anna Bickhardt

Anna Bickhardt was born in Ellerhausen, Germany around 1845. She was to sail to America with Peter Mutze (her fiance) to see her sister. They received word that the American Civil War was raging and their port of destiny, Baltimoor Harbour, was blockaded by the Southerners. So they decided to sail to Australia. Does anyone know who Anna's sister was?

Bickharts of Snyder Co. PA

I have read many of the Bickhart messages and thought I should add my 2 cents worth, in hopes of making a connection. My mother's mother was Jennie Mae (Bickhart) Rauch [1892-1979]. Her Parents were Peter Samuel [1863-1938] and Mary Anne (Nace) Bickhart. Peter's parents were Samuel [1840-1901] & Sarah (Steffen) Bickhart.

Samuel's children were: Jacob, Washington, Suzanna(who married ??? Dreese), unknown daughter(who married ??? Philips), PETER SAMUEL, and Sally(who married ??? Moyer).

PETER SAMUEL BICKHART'S children were: Arthur(who married ??? Herold), JENNIE MAE(who married Jonathan P. Rauch), Katie(whose son was Woodrow Heintzelman) and William Samuel Bickhart(who married Margaret Reichenbach).

My mother's mother, Jennie Mae Bickhart, was raised in Grub's (Lutheran) Church, Snyder Co., Pa where she played the organ. Her parents had a farm in that area.

If any of these names "ring a bell" I would be interested in a possible connection.

I too am connected (or I should say my husband). William Samuel Bickhart son of Peter S. & Mary Ann (Nace) Bickhart was my husband's grandfather. I vaguely remember your Grandmother Jennie Rauch from when my husband & I were first married. My mother-in-law often spoke of her and her family. I am trying to find Samuel's parents. I thought perhaps it was John & Lydia Bickhart. Do you have any information to support this?
Esther

DREESE; MARY A. married FRANK PHILLIPS; SALLY married GEORGE G. MOYER; HENRY S. BICKHART; CATHARINE married GEORGE B. SHAFFER; EMMA married WILLIAM A. ARBOGAST; and two other children, JAMES and ELIZABETH, died in infancy.

I also have ARTHUR, son of PETER S. and MARY A. (NACE) BICKHART, as marrying NORA MAY WILT rather than Herrold, although Nora's mother, EMMA A. (___) WILT, was then apparently married to a HERROLD.

Re: Tillman or Tilghman Bickhart or Beckhart

Jonathan Pontius of then Penns Township, Union County, now Middlecreek Township, Snyder County, died in 1826 leaving a widow, Maria and one child, Susannah. Letters of Administration were issued to George Gemberling. Maria (1803-1890); a.k.a. Mary, Mary M. and Polly; was the daughter of George (Sr.) and Barbara Gemberling. In 1832 Mary married Jacob Bickhart (1800-1887).

The children of this union included Tilghman Bickhart, believed to have been born about 1835. In the 1840 census Jacob "Beakcart" and family were in Centre Township, (now) Snyder County. In the 1850's they were in Upper Augusta Township, Northumberland County. In 1859 and 1860 Jacob and Mary were back in Centre Township, Snyder County (1860 census - Jacob and Mary Pickard; no Tilghman). I did not find them in the 1870 census, but they are in Centre Township in the 1880 census.

Tilghman married Elizabeth (_?_). Children included James T. and Cora I. Bickhart. Tilghman and family apparently moved west, but from 1883 to 1887 they were back in Centre Township, Snyder County, tending to the farm of his ailing father.

After Jacob died, both Polly (widow) and Tilghman declined to administer the estate, requesting that William J. Bailey be appointed to that task. Bailey was Cora's husband. When some of Jacob's personal property was auctioned off in July 1887, those in attendance included Polly (widow), Tilghman (son), Cora Bailey (daughter) and William Bailey (son-in-law).

Tilghman and Elizabeth remained in Centre Township at least into 1892. I know nothing more of them after that date. Please post whatever you find on Tilghman and Cora.

Bickhart and Bailey

Well, my Cora was Cora Imadel (Sp?) Bickhart or Beckhart.

She married William Henry Jackson Bailey, who MAY be the son of Willian Henry Harrison Bailey. I found some photos that are late Victorian Death photos of either a Bailey or Bickhart funeral. It had no name on back except 'Bailey's"

I cannot locate anything other than a marriage someone dug up for me on Cora.
snyder county marriage:
08 AUG 1886 Pennsylvania

I found a William without a Cora in Lycoming county in 1910, but I truly don't think he is mine. Someone found a Tillman Bickhart in Jefferson County, IL between 1910-1915. These folks lived next door to the grandparents of Cora's son, Calvin's future wife. Cora's son, Calvin was in Lasalle County, IL also at these times, I believe. Someone told me that WIlliam Bailey died in Kansas City, KS in the early 30s. There is also another William who died in PA in the early 30s. The dates of birth on these bailey's are getting so confusing.

I have no idea. All I know is that he lived in California most of his adult life and he had several children. He ended up moving to Texas and that is where he passed away. My mother cannot tell me anything about him as she does not know. I would love to know it there as siblings alive of mine. Any information is appreciated.
