Henry Raby Bidgood - Cardiff -->Illinois -->Where?

I am trying to learn more about my great-grandfather Henry Raby Bidgood, born Cardiff Wales around 1870, was a physician in Chicago, Illinois, USA in the 1890s, and then whereabouts unknown. There is a possibility he moved with his wife and 2 kids to Mexico around 1902 and that his family returned to the USA, perhaps without him, around 1907. If you have any information on this Henry Bidgood, please let me know. Thanks.
I have information on several Benjamin BIDGOODs associated with Newfoundland around the mid 1700s, which I am happy to share.

I am not aware of any one of that name with Newfoundland connections later than that period. If you have confirmed information please share with me.

Don Bidgood.
One-Name Study of Bidgood and variants, all places and all times.

Hi, Lorna, I did not receive your E-mail. Please send it again. I found one reference in the Hopkinton Town Meeting minutes from the 1760s where John Bitgood, a tranchon person, applied to live in Hopkintown, and in his testimony, he claimed to have been born in the house of John Holloway in Charlestown. The Hopkintown town fathers voted not to admit him to live in Hopkintown. Have you investigated John Holloway from Charlestown?
Kindest regards,
Bill Bidgood
She was born 1845 in Yealhampton. What a Pity you are so for away - I am going to see the old folks on Nov 6th.My aunt Grace lives in Buckland Monachorum. She is 90. Her mother was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth. I can tell you some of the background in her memory. I am having a problem with sending E Mails which I should rectify in the day or two so I will Definately be in touch Thelma

I note your interest in our common ancestors John and Elizabeth (Granny) Tarr. Their daughter Lizzie (two years older than my great gandmother Sarah her sister) married John Bidgood in 1870. There are references to the Bidgood family and descendants in "The Tarrs of Poverty Bay", Derek N. Tarr, 1992. Granny Tarr has her own chapeter in "New Zealand Pioneer Women". I would be interested in any material you may have. - Roger Frazer, Hamilton, New Zealand

I recently visited a cemetary in Fayetteville, NC and have a picture of a BIDGOOD stone there. It's a childs stone, and the name is barely readable. Looks like...KATRISA daughter of Robt. W and Kate W. BIDGOOD ---- April 10(?), 1886. If you know of anyone searching out this family, I will be happy to send them a copy of the picture of this ornate stone.

I have recently discovered that my great-grandfather, Walton D. Bidgood, moved from Nansemond County, Virginia to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While there he met and married Rachael Benson and they had three children, Ester, Walton D., Jr. and James Edward. Esther was born in Virginia but the two brothers were born in Penn. James Edward Is my Grandfather who married Catherine Virginia McCarthy of Phila., Penn. Catherine had a sister named Jenny who married Dan Daley and a sister named Mary Temple, husband unknown. If anyone has any information on any of these people I would appreciate the information.

Thank you

Hi Don, I have been as busy as a bee trying to make sense of the pile of information that I have. My grandfather, James Edward Bidgood WAS born in Pennsylvania as was his wife Rachel Benson. They are listed on the 1910 miracode census for the State of Virginia and it indicates that their daughter Virginia Catherine, apparently born in PA, was with them. Virginia died sometime between 1910 and 1920 from a diptheria plague in Norfolk Virginia, which I have found occured in 1917, 1918 and 1919. You could have hit me with a baseball bat when it all fell into place by eliminating incorrect info. which was the birth certificate of my grandfather, James Edward, I think his birth was recorded in PA. and VA. I need to focus on Rachel, James Edward and Virginia. I'll get back to you sometime on this. If you have any interesting peices of the puzzle, please let me know.
Thanks, Mary

Hi Donald, I have a Mary Ann Bidgood b 1802 Tiverton Devon who married Henry Turner b 1805 Chard Somerset - The couple raised their family in Bloomsbury/Pancras area of London.
I believe Mary Ann's parents were Thomas Bidgood b abt 1777 Lockbear Devon and Susanna Hatswell b abt 1781 Tiverton Devon. Other than Mary Ann they also had Frances b abt 1807 and William b abt 1812.
I would be very grateful, if you have any further information on this line of Bidgood's or any other Mary Ann Bidgood b 1802 Tiverton Devon, if you could pass it on to me.
Many thanks Jacqui

I am searching for the Bidgood family line beyond RI in the 1700's. Thank you Lorna for all of your help! I know I'm not alone in searching.
John Bitgood (aka Goodbit) was born 173-? unknown location. He lived in RI with his wife Jemima Mitchell Bitgood. One of their son's was Remington Bitgood, born 1758 in RI. Then there was Benjamin Bitgood, born between 1765-1784 in RI, and his son Benjamin F. Bidgood born 1828 in NY...etc
I am looking for this line and hoping to take it back to England where I am assuming it originated. Anyone out there have a link for me?
