Ethel Bieber Mattox 1907-2009 b. Newark, Ohio

Ethel Marie Mattox, 102, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 30, 2009. Ethel was born in Newark,(Licking county) Ohio on August 10, 1907 to the late Louis and Etta May (Hepner) Bieber.

Ethel was the last surviving sibling of eleven brothers and sisters. She was a member of Mills Memorial. She was also a longtime employee with Drew Shoe Company.

She is survived by her daughters, Dolores (Ira) Kline and Barbara (Lovell) Aills; son-in-law, Charles Morgan; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, brothers, and sisters, Ethel was preceded in death by her daughter, Grace Morgan.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio with Pastor Thomas McGranor officiating.

I need a little help on this line. I have had up to Elizabeth/Betsy BEAVER for several years but haven't gotten around to searching beyond her. I have found some information stating her parents to be Christian BEAVER and Sally SHORT who married 6 March, 1798 in Rowan Co., North Carolina.

Christened: Evangilical, Elsass areas....d. 1925 Buffalo NY, He m. 1898 Catherina (Kate) Helmstetter b. 1875 of Elass
also Evangelical.

His one son Heinrich (Henry) A. Bieber Jr. b. 13 Mar 1900 Alsace Lorraine: married my Aunt Beatrice Beagle daughter o0f Frank Beagle.

Don't think that your Heinrich is the same as the one I found the records to. Hirschland is too far away from here.

I don't doubt that there might be a connection although, acc to the NARA-records, 301 "Bieber" emigrated between 1850 and 1897 from Germany to the US and there were also 66 "Biber.

Very little, I know the name of the ship, and manifest how they came over. His brother Charles was here in US first, shows him going back and foruth for years he was a taylor. My aunt married his son Henry Bieber

Sorry but I don't have that much more information but I do know that he emmigrated about 1879/1880 to the USA or Canada. And I believe that he came from a small place called "Beiersgraben" which belongs to Rotterterode but is outside the town and has now two farms altough I believe it were more back than.

Do you have any additional information to the Heinrich Bieber you're looking for?

I found some records to a Heinrich Bieber, born 24.04.1856 in Rotterterode, Hesse, Germany. His father was Jacob Bieber and his mother was Anne Elise (nee Hellwig). Don't know if this Heinrich has anything to do with the ones you've mentioned but it's a try.

Eric S. ''Botch'' Bieber, 17, of 1930 Parkland Dr., Ely, died, Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Services will be at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Steven Rosonke. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1982, in Muscatine, to Robert F. and Wendy Krebs Bieber. He attended Metro High School in Cedar Rapids, where he was to be a senior this year.

He was employed at Cedar Rapids Pizza. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Immanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar, skateboarding and fishing.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Robert F. and Laura Bieber of Ely; his
mother and stepfather, Wendy and Dwight Walters of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Brett, Schuyler and Christian, all of Ely; paternal grandparents, Robert J. and Marcella Bieber of Muscatine; maternal great-grandfather, Eldo Krebs of Davenport; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friend, Michelle Monroe of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth E. and Doris Krebs.

Robert John Bieber, 81, of Muscatine, died Friday, August 8, 2003, after an extended illness.

Service will be held at the St. Mary Church. The Reverend John P. Gallagher will officiate. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and his nephew, David Cooney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Van Camp, Frank Bermel, Paul Bermel, George Cooper and Marvin Cooney. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation with a Rosary following visitation at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.

He was born April 21, 1922, in Muscatine, the son of John G. and Rosa Louise Aull Bieber. He married Marcella Peyerl on May 5, 1942 at St. Mary Church, in Muscatine.

He was a member of the St. Mary Church. He was an avid sports fan and fisherman. He enjoyed family barbecues.

He had retired from R.J. Dick Company in 1984 where he had worked as a welder. He had also co-owned and operated Peyerls Apple Orchard for many years.

He had served in the US Army during WWII in General Patton's 41st tank battalion, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also part of the troops that liberated the prisoners in the Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marcella Bieber of Muscatine; eight children, Deanna Borne and her husband, Allen, of Independence, Missouri, Michele Lane and her husband, Kenneth, of Muscatine, Robert F. Bieber and his wife, Laura, of Ely, Iowa, Craig Bieber and his wife, Patricia, of Muscatine, Randy Bieber and his wife, Joyce, of Centerville, Iowa, Dr. Kevin Bieber, of Muscatine, Sherri Lytle and her husband, Gene, of Hiawatha, Iowa, Lori Augspurger and her husband, Dr. John, of Muscatine; 16 grandchildren, Tim and Greg Bennett, Matt and Kelly Lane, Brett, Schuyler, Christian, Steven, Thomas, Alison, Michael, and Nathan Bieber, Jacob, Justin, Collin and Austin Lytle; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Bieber of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Walter Bieber, and two grandchildren, Chris Bennett and Eric Bieber.
