Hi, and thanx for the reply. My Great Grandfather, Joseph Biel was born in or near Uder, Germany in 1856. He married Anna Marie Henning, my Great Grandmother. They Immigrated to America in 1890 with their son, Frank (Franz) Biel....my Grandfather. They established their home here in Pittsburgh, Pa...actually in the Spring Hill section of the city....also know here as "Deutschtown", or Germantown.

That's not to say that there isn't a connection. I'd like to keep in touch to see if you discover any other information regarding your Biel family connection.

Thanx again......Bill Biel

My Great Grandfather was Josef Biel. He was born in Uder, Germany, August 25, 1856. At some point he, and apparently his btothers, moved to Berlin. His wife, my Great Grandmother, Anna Marie Henning, was born October 29, 1864. In March of 1890, they immigrated to America, along with their son Franz, my Grandfather.

I believe one of the brothers was named Sebastian Biel.

I know that my GGGGrandfather, Josef Biel, was born in Uder around 1795

I have some Biel relatives that were in Krakow Poland. Search this link through familysearch. This is the where the index for Ellis Island records are kept.
Can you find anyone you know on the 1930 Census? My Biels that immigrated were in Chicago, & Minneapolis. I'm still trying to learn about my Biels, so I'd love to hear more from you.
Biels from Poland / UK?

Hi, i have no idea of my ancestory, but my nan and grandad from my dads (died in 2002) family are originally from Poland as i believe. He was called Anjay Biel (or andrew, im not sure) and my grandmother was called Elizabeth Biel (or Eliza Biel)

My father was called "Edward Biel" or Edward Zbigniew Biel.

Unfortunately when my grandmother was in a care home in Wales a briefcase of all her contacts and photos was stolen from her room, so i have no idea of any family i might have in Poland / UK under the "Biel" surname.... if anyone knows of anyone by these names then please contact me.

Biel & related family info on new blog

http://sanetra-genhistory.blogspot.com/

I'm trying a blog (see link above) to post info I have found regarding some Polish families in Krakow. I don't know how everyone is connected yet. I have box of letters written from relatives in Zablocie. So I'm trying to share what I know, and hope others will have ideas, suggestions and might recognize some info I post. I'm still new at blogs, but hoping it might help further my understanding of my Polish ancestry. My family immigrated abt 1904, but some went back, and some family never left Krakow. Some of the families I'm watching for records are (in various spellings): Biel, Caputa, Cender, Gowin, Keller, Klosak, Lach, Mazurkiewicz, Oczkowska, Sanetra, Urbas, Wandzel, Wojtas, & Zulawska.
If you know anything about Krakow, I'd love to hear it, because we really don't know. My gr. grandfather was orphaned and raised American, and we really wish to learn more about the culture we are from. Thanks, Julie Cabitto
julie.cabitto@gmail.com

Biels from Zablocie, Poland

I am researching several surnames from Zablocie, Zyweic, Poland, including Biel. I have some family still in Poland, and some in the States, mostly settling around Chicago & Minneapolis. The flu epidemics, TB outbreaks and WWII caused a lot of separation and orphan situations for my family. My grandfather was orphaned and spent 50 years looking for even a brother or sister, writing hundreds of letters. So I'm trying to peice things together, little by little. I've been doing genealogy for 20 years on my other family lines, but I am totally new at blogs, and I've only been doing this for two days now. I'm trying to be brave and let you know I'm trying a blog to post info & resources I find. If interested, here's the address below. Hope it may benefit someone, and hope to find someone one day that recognizes my family too.
I have two Biels in my tree: Jadwiga Biel (born 1883)that married a Thomas Sanetra and settled in Minneapolis. Also a Magdalena Biel (b. 1781) that married Jakub Sanetra and lived the remainer of her life in Poland.
http://sanetra-genhistory.blogspot.com/

Hey guys!
My name is Raquel Biel, i am from Barcelona, Spain... My surname Biel, comes from my Grand father, Santiago Biel. Here in Spain, the Biel surname comes from Aragon, at least the most of us. Aragon is a region close to Cataluña (where Barcelona is located), there is even a small village called Biel in Aragon.
In Sapin is not very usal this surname. What i don't know is if Biel is originally from Sapin or from somewhere in Europe!

My family of Beal I believe was originally Biel or some other variation and came from what is now Heiliginstadt, Germany which at the time of their arrival in New York in 1852 was Prussia. Werner Biel settled in Belle Plaine, Iowa and may have had other family here and in Prussia but have done no research in Germany. Werner had a large family of 13 children and his wife was Theresa. Have much info on these Beals. Let me know if anything sounds correct.
Ross

Bill -
Anton could very well be family but we have no info on his ancestors or his immediate family. Werner was born in 1826 and Anton in 1830 so there is a possibility if he was from Heiligenstadt. One of these days I need to check with the Morman micro-fishe at the local research center. They have info from the chuirches in Heiligenstadt. May have to order film but may be worth the wait.
Ross

Bill, your BIEL / KAIB connections interest me. In Buffalo census records I'm finding my BIEHL family living a few houses from a KEIB (or KIEB) family. I have a marriage between Julia KIEB and John BIEHL abt. 1845, but they may have been married in Germany. John BIEHL was from Hesse. In Buffalo he was a blacksmith. I am missing data on some of these BIEHL /KIEB children. Any chance we're dealing with the same family?

I've recently received new information on my Biel family from Germany. Anton Biel was married to Anna Kanngeisser. They were from Uder, near Berlin, Germany. We believe there is a brother or son to Anton by the name of Sebastian Biel. I have my tree listed on Ancestry.com. If you're interested, I can send you an invitation. It's not cpmplete, but there might be enough info. to determine if there could be a connection.

Bill Biel

Hi! I'm interested in your Biel family connection. I know that my Great Grandparents, Joseph and Mary (Henning) Biel along with their son (my Grandfather) Franz (Frank) arrived in America on March 18, 1890, aboard the ship "Scandia" from the port of Hamburg, Germany. My information tells me that Joseph's Father was Anton Biel, and that his Mother's name was either Ungele or Angela. I don't know anything more about Joseph's family. I'm interested in finding information on family left behind in Berlin. Some others may have immigrated, but I have no proof of that.
