Hi Francie,

I have you and your whole ancestry in my Bier database. your part of the Bier family was sent to by Mary Wilson Bier. You are a descendant of Jacob Koppel Bier and his first wife Goldie Powder. My Bier relatives are descended from Jacob Koppel Bier and his second wife Ethel Kanner. I am related to the Kanner family. So, we are not actually blood relatives.

You can contact me at sdgold @ optonline.net if you would like to discuss further. I have information on the Bier family including photos and articles regarding Koppel Bier. I also have cemetery photos and cemetery cards. Do you have any photo's of him and his descendents?

I also have connected with a number of Bier's through email and facebook.

Regards,
Steve

Hi, I just read your note on Koppel Bier and he was my grandfater's grandfather! My grandfather was Gilbert Bier (he died June 2004), and my father is Barry Bier. I've been interested in finding some family history and I've found a lot about my great grandmother (Pearl Zemel Bier) and I was very happy to find SOMETHING else, so if you have any other info I would love to read about it! Thanks and you DO have other family out there! I hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Francie Helen-Bier Feder

Hi Nan,

Not my side of the family. Conrad and George Bier came straight to Iowa in 1882 & 1872. Henry went straight to Tacoma WA with his wife Brigetta in 1882. A sister Elizabeth came across with Henry and Brigetta and I believe she came to WA possible ending up in Spokane, but have not been able to verify. There was one other brother Paul that I have not information on. He possibly stayed in Germany.

Thanks,
Christine

Hello again,
I wanted to let you know I have not heard a thing from the lady I was communicating with,I really hope she is doing o.k.

But the town of Hesse and Hessen, are they the same place ?

Because the Kohlmann's were from Altmorschen Hesse,Germany...

Are these the same people? If so,let me know,my family moved to Sandusky,Ohio in 1851.So,here's how my family goes...

Johann Kohlmann married to Dorothea Bier in 1842 Germany..

They had 3 daughters in Germany....moved to Ohio and had two more daughters and one son.
His son (Phillip) and John did stone-cutting for a living.

If any of this sounds like your side of the family, write to me and let me know,as far as I know there isn't any info on Dorothea or Johann, just what was in Ohio, and I still don't have that yet from the lady I was talking to on line.

Thanks (Please) send anything you might think looks like kin to both sides of the family.
Hi Nan,

I don't have much information on the Bier's. I am also searching for information. My great great grandfather was Conrad Bier born Aug 30, 1860 Kreiss Kershleim Hessen, Kassil, Germany. His parents were John Bier and Elizabeth Thies (mothers last name questionable). Conrad had 3 brothers-Paul, Henry (1851)who imigrated to Tacoma, WA, George (1857) who imigrated to Meservey, IA also.

Please let me know if any of these names sound familiar when you get your additional information.

You can contact me directly at Patchfaye2@msn.com.

Christine

I'm interested in your Biers because the family I'm trying to find married into a Miller/Peter family that settled in Brown Co., OH abt 1833. They later moved to LaSalle Co., IL.

I'm looking for John Bier, born abt 1843, said in Wurtemburg, but I'm beginning to wonder. He married abt 1875 in LaSalle Co., IL.

The Peters and Millers were from Switzerland originally or neighboring parts of Germany.

Hi,

I've slacked of a little on my ancestry work, but it could be that my Uncle Henry Bier could be a relative. There were quite a number of the Bier family in Pittsburgh. My family tended to all be in the South Hills, but I have to go check my notes. My mother has tons of information - she is 84, but doing well. Someone else contacted her about family history. She knows way more than me. I can look up her email - don't have it in my head at the moment.
Regards,
Carol Monk
We may be from same family. My Henry Bier born abt 1846 Germany (Prussia?). Came to America as a young man with his brother Frank (?) but lost contact with him. Henry may have signed declaration of intent in Allegany PA about 1868. Henry married Sarah Frances (Wise) Phariss in Mt. Vernon, Lawerence County MO in 1887.
Let's compare notes.
Carolyn

Hi,

I am searching for my gg grandfather Conrad Bier's parents or other family. Conrad was born 30 Aug 1860 Kreiss, Kershleim Hessen, Kassil, Germany and married Augusta Louise Ukro they farmed outside Meservey, Cerro Gordo, IA. It appears Conrad immigrated in 1882 by himself.

Conrad had three brothers:
George who farmed in Cerro Gordo, Cty, IA.

Henry G who was a school teacher immigrated directly to Tacoma, Pierce County with his wife Brigitta who was from either Austria or Hungry. It appears a younger sister Elizabeth immigrated with them in Dec 1882.

Paul - I am unable to locate any information on Paul and if he immigrated to the US or not.

I have their parents listed as John and Elizabeth (Thies) Bier - have been unable to find any information on them and if they immigrated or not.

Any help appreciated and I am glad to share any information on the siblings that may be of interest to others.

Looking for information on John. He was born in Germany, probably Wurtemburg about 1841 or 1843. He married in 1875 in LaSalle county Mary Ann (Peters) Miller. They had one child, William G. Bier. John only appears in the one census of 1880. I can't find him before or after in any records except for the marriages of his step-children in the mid 1880s to Beisswanger siblings.

Family history has it that he abandoned his family and remarried, or that he was married before he married Mary Ann.

I'm looking for a connect to George Bier b: 1818 living in Carroll Co,Maryland from 1850- death in 1902. He married a Katharina ?. Census say he was from Hesse. We have hit a wall with him since I can't find a German site I can read. We believe he came to America 1850 or before. He had 2 children, George and Maggie. George was born in PA or MD, it states both in our census research. Any George's in your records??? Thanks, Charlene
