I think we may be kin. My grandfather was James Milton Bigbie. He married Nora Jim Cobb from dothan.

I am trying to find David Lyle Adams who is a son of Jean Francis Bigbie (daughter of Amzie Leon Bigbie)or Pam Bigbie Strickland (formerly of Roswell, Ga.) Help finding these two would be appreciated. My maiden name is Patricia Ross Kelley and I was born and raised in Dothan and am a family friend.

James: your grandfather Willie and my grandfather were brothers Roy was the oldest son then uncle omer and then uncle willie was the youngest I know he died and is buried somewhere in Jackson county,fl last time i saw uncle willie was at uncle omers funeral. holly: it has been several years since we coresponded but John William Bigbie is my Great Grandfather yes Alice was the first born of John My grand father William Roy bigbie was the next followed by Omer and Willie. John was married to Catherine 10 21 1866 Alice Lavonia was born 6 8 1868 and died
11 2 1955 in North carolina. My grandaddy and uncle omer are buried in Greenville,fl and uncle willie in Marianna,Fl. hope this helps. I think I have a picture of Aunt Alice somewhere will try to locate it. feel free to contact me anytime. Gpd bless you. Thomas

Looking for info on Edgar "Eddie" L. Bigbie who married Boma Goolsby & John Eddie Bigbie who married Vivian Vaudine McMullen. Edgar is John's father. I am trying to help out a friend who is just getting started on his family genealogy. I am trying to get some dates and locations and hopefully ancestors/descendants. Thanks for any help.

This is Jeff Bigbie, my younger brother is Jason Bigbie. I was born in dothan but raised in Birmingham AL and Atlanta GA majority of my life. I'm currently living and working in Atlanta GA with my wife Wendy. My brother has recently moved to Sheffield, AL with his wife Tara and new baby Abbie. My mother Wandy Jo Day(maiden) married my dad David Bigbie. My dad is son to Justice Bigbie.

Susannah Mattison First Cousin To President James Madison

I've just come across a biography of James N. Bigbie (son of Rev. Thomas Bigbie) written in 1895 (when he was still alive) which claims that his grandmother, Susannah Mattison (spelled Madison in the text), who was married to Archibald Bigbie, was the first cousin of President Madison.

I find this astonishing since I have never come across this connection before nor have I seen any Bigbie/Bigbee or Mattison researchers make the connection. Everything else about the Bigbie family in the biography is extremely accurate so I suspect there is some true to James N.'s assertion.

I've done alittle research on James Madison's family and found that his father only had two other siblings, both sisters. However, there is speculation that Ambrose Madison, his grandfather, may have been married before and could have produced sons from that marriage. Nobody seems to know much about these lines though. If this is true, however, then it is possible that Susannah could be Pres. James Madison's first cousin.

I'm curious to know what all the other Bigbie/Bigbee researchers think of this.

My grandfather was Willie, he lived in Headland, AL, Phenix City, AL and died in Marianna FL. He had at least 2 sons and a daughter, my father was William H. Bigbie, he's in Fairhope AL now. Not sure of the brother and sister's names, but the brother died in Smith's Station, AL, and the sister still lives in Marianna, I think.

I don't know if I am one of the Bigbie's from any of those states you mentioned. My father was Archie (Wm?) Bigbie and born in Texas in 1910. His mother was Mollie Parish (part or all Cherokee) and his father was Archie Bigbie. I just found out this from Holly Kulp, that her mother Rosemary is my first cousin. Rosemary's father John L. Bigbie was my father's (Archie Bigbie) older brother. I was born in Oklahoma City. Beverly Bigbie

According to the 1880 census for Clay County, Ga., my great grandfather, Archie Bigbie, was the grandson of Archibald E. Bigbie (son of Rev. Thomas Bigbie) and Martha A. Bigbie (Martha Ann Smith). Also living with Archibald E., Martha, and grandson, Archie, in 1880 was their granddaughter, Alice Bigbie. I'm wondering if Archie and Alice were the children of John W. Bigbie and Catherine Mclendon. Does anyone know whose children Archie and Alice were or have any info on John W. and Catherine? Thanks,

There may be a connection here. My grandfather's name was John L. Bigbie and he was born in Fannin County, Texas. His father's name was Archie Bigbie and his mother's name was Mollie Parish. I believe Mollie was a Cherokee indian. I have also been told that Archie and Mollie may have had another child whose name was Archie but I haven't been able to locate any information about him. I was told that my grandmother was half American Indian(Cherokee/Choctaw), and married a man named Bigbie and they lived in Oklahoma. My father's name is Archie and was born in Texas.

Dear Linda, I have reason to believe Lewellen Bigbie is the father of my great-grandfather, Archie Bigbie, who I have been researching for the past few years. I believe he is one of Lewellen's and Rebecca's "unknown children" everyone talks about. Email me and I will let you know what I have found.
